Marty collects Jess from the airport in Perth and takes her back to Toodyay. Once they arrive, he shows Jess all the things around the farm that they'd talked about in the house. They feed the lambs (which they name after all the housemates), she meets his dogs, they have a picnic by the creek and she visits his cottage. They seem besotted with one another - can their romance survive in the big, wide world? 23 July 2002 Sydney Confidential ANOTHER Celebrity Big Brother rumour: word has it that Lee Kernaghan could take second series runner-up Marty into the house to have a B&S ball some time this week. 8 July 2002 Marty: One Week Out BB: What was the experience of meeting up with all the other HMs at the final eviction like? M: That was mad so intense. It was great to catch up with everyone. Even people who left the house early on. Jess and I hung out with Damo in Sydney a bit. Its just been great to catch with everyone. BB: You were very well received by the public on the night of the final eviction, how do you feel about the general public's reaction to you? M: Oh! Love em! Its great to see the different responses from kids to people my age to people older hugging me. Everywhere Ive received smiles. Everyones been fantastic in their support. BB: What is your favourite experience since leaving the house? M: Jess and I went to Star City casino in Sydney and I put five bucks on the money wheel and won. It was really exciting because I never win anything and I jumped up and down. I wasnt meant to draw attention to us, but everyone crowded around. It was great. Ive really loved my time with Jess. BB: Any low moments? M: Nah.. It takes a lot to bring me down BB: Have you been spending much time with Jess? M: Jess left this morning; shes going back to Sydney. I will be catching up with her again as soon as possible BB: What did you personally get out of the BB experience? M: Not sure I dont know, yet. I dont know if Ive learnt anything, but gained a lot of great mates. BB: What do you anticipate might come of the experience, career-wise? M: I dont know. I dont know how this industry works. No one has approached me yet. BB: Have to ask have you spoken to Jonelle? M: Not in person. I did speak to her over the phone. BB: What advice do you have for the celeb BB HMs? M: Live it up, run amok and have the time of your lives! 2 July 2002 Chat With Marty What type of dogs are yours? They're Bull Arab, Bull Mastiff, Ridgeback Cross. They're cool. I miss em heaps, too. You seemed to enjoy the fashion parade task do u ever think u would consider a modeling gig? I'm not sure if I'd go that - maybe some country clothing would be all right, but that's as far as I'd go. Besides, my body's usually riddled with scars and bruises, so it'd be no good. I'm sure last night was full of wild antics after your eviction; Did you find time to catch up with Jess and talk about your proposal? I found it very hard to find the time to talk to Jess in depth, but we did cross paths on a number of occasions, and it was just a sweet "Hello, how you going, I missed you" and a kiss and a cuddle. When you first got into the house which girl did you fancy the most? When I was sitting next to her onstage, I thought Mirabai was most attractive, but as I got to know Jess, probably on the second day, I realised that Jess was probably the pick of the house. Congratulations for being one of the last two standing and for finding your new best mate, Jess. If you could invite 4 of your other BB housemates out for dinner, who would it be and why? Nath, he's a very boisterous WA bloke, and he's extremely funny and I love his company. Peter - what we've shared together is pretty special, and we love to have a good time together. Shannon, definitely - she was great in the house, I had a ball with her. And definitely Jessica, cos I love her. Have you talked to Jonelle? If so, what was the outcome of you relationship? I want to talk to Jonelle face to face. That's probably the best approach to explain what's been going on, and set things straight. I haven't so far, but it's definitely one of my main priorities. What was it like having 'Killing Heidi' on BB? To tell you the truth, I didn't have a clue who they were, but once they started to sing, I knew their songs. It was awesome, and to see everyone else loving it was an amazing feeling. How does it feel to own the first HOLDEN CRUZE? It's good to own it - I haven't driven it yet, so I don't know how that feels yet. I can't wait to get behind that wheel and do some skids - off the bitumen, of course. We're talking about it tonight, and Nathan and me and Jessica are going to drive it over from QLD to WA. How was it seeing all the housemates again for the first time? And where can I get the shirt that you wore every week for eviction nights? You can get that shirt from an op shop - Alex bought it in an op shop in Melbourne, and gave it to me. It's great seeing them all, though finding the time to chat with them is a bit hard. We had a bus trip today, and I sat next to Jess, but I'll try to get around to everyone. Do you think that things will become serious with Jess? I hope so. I'd like to see how things work out. I know you are an AFL boy and I was just wondering who you barrack for? I'm a Brisbane Lions supporter, and I don't mind the old Dockers. Whats the first thing you plan to do as soon as you get home and back to your farm? I think jump on a motorbike and go on a big cruise through the bush and light a fire and just chill out with my dogs by my side. Did you get to eat your stolen baked beans? Im still trying to track them down. I was going to eat them with Al when I got out - I promised I'd save the medley for him. When I do track it down, I'm going to cook it in the frypan I stole from the house. Are you disappointed that you were so close to $250,000 and you just missed out? No I'm not. Seeing the crowds faces and their reaction when I got out was a big enough rush for me. What are your favourite bands? This'll rock the nation. I'm not sure about bands, but I like Lee Kernaghan. Music has never been my big thing. Has your mum had that 'talk' with you yet Marty? If not, I suggest you run! Mum and me have had a bit of a chat, and every thing's sweet. I am her son, after all. Have you seen any episodes of big brother yet? If so do you feel you were depicted accurately? I haven't seen any yet, and don't plan to watch them for a few months, at least. I'd just like to have the memories I have in my head and in my heart, rather than on TV. 2 July 2002 Big Brother Generation The Pamela Anderson/Tommy Lee Award for most traumatic real-life break-up: A pre-emptive award to farm boy Marty and pre-Big Brother girlfriend Jonelle. He takes out the grand prize of $250,000. Marty won a Holden Cruze All Wheel Drive! 1 July 2002 Marty & Jonelle Before Nathan 'Marty' Martin went into the house, Jonelle Rowles thought their relationship was secure. But within 2 weeks he was going at it with HM Jessica Hardy in front of the nation. His father says he advised his son to speak to Jonelle to sort things out before he left WA for the BB house. "But he didn't do that," says Dad, who reveals their relationship had only been going 6 months. Meanwhile, Jonelle is heart-broken. In an interview with NW in April she said, "I believed him when he said he wouldn't hurt me. He went into the house to have fun and I don't know what happened." NW predicts: No future. Jonelle will move on and so will Marty - but not with Jessica. NW - Plays for the Toodyay Football Club. - Marty claims to have eaten road kill, witchety grubs, termites and even stink bugs.
