Marty Misses Out

Marty was favourite to win Big Brother before he even entered the house. His country-boy charm and simple outlook on life won hearts all over the country but unfortunately the love was not enough as he walked out the runner-up tonight.

Marty has cruised through his time in the Big Brother house without a care in the world. Hes been nominated for eviction only three times and managed to find himself the woman of his dreams to boot. Marty has thrown himself into every opportunity that has come his way and truly enjoyed each moment in the house.

From his early days of falling out of the bunker, to his more recent exploits of fan-whipping and undie-retrieving, Marty has always been the centre of fun.

Hes earned himself the label of the house prankster by continuously playing jokes on his fellow housemates. Keiran, in particular, was at the receiving end of many of Martys jokes, especially the now-famous Deep Heat on the toothbrush incident. Keiran also copped it when Marty decided to put chili in his coffee. More recently, Marty continued his beverage buffoonery when he added salt to Petes wine. Trickster Marty was once again responsible when Nathan went to bed and discovered everything from chairs to the rubbish bin under his sheets.

Despite Damos efforts to become the house Casanova, it was Marty who slipped quietly into the role. Although he recently admitting initially having eyes for Mira, it was Jess who finally won his heart. Since Day 2 in the house, Marty and Jess have slept side by side, often reaching lovingly across the 50cm gap between their beds. This gap decreased as their flirtations increased, until the two spent every night wrapped in each others arms. But their relationship was not really acknowledged by the other housemates until the night of the intruders, when Nathan introduced them as a couple. From then on, Jess and Marty have been Australias hottest couple, with fans tuning in every week to see how their love affair has progressed.

When Jess was evicted two weeks ago, Marty was crushed. After weeks of refusing to disclose his feelings, it had finally hit home how much he cared about his roller-girl. Before she left, they had briefly discussed the possibility of continuing their relationship on the outside, overcoming distance and background, but as she walked out the wooden doors, their future was uncertain. However, late last week, Marty made an announcement that made Australian Big Brother history. He told Sahra and Pete that he wanted to marry Jess.

However, Marty almost ruined his chances last week during a late-night romp with Sahra. Some uncut, under the doona action between the two wasnt looked upon favourably by Jess, but she told BB Online that she was going to stand by her man.

Marty was the consummate party boy always up for beer or six. He loved dressing up, donning a wig or tights whenever the need arose (or when it didnt) and he threw himself into weekly challenges with gusto.

His boyish charm and simplistic, often nave attitude was a hit with both the housemates and the voting public alike, but the decision between the final two was always going to be a hard one to make. Both Marty and Pete are deserved of walking away with the prize, but Australia spoke in the end.
