Osiris
(Edward)
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Serpent of the Light. Secretive and sly (as with all Serpents), Osiris is a recent addition to the Temple of Maiden Newton. He has, however, made an impact upon Grand Inquisitor Anthony Livingstone, by volunteering himself to take care of the baby Hope, whose death is referred to in the Armageddon Prophecy as the final portent before the ascension of Lord Arrakon. Together with the rest of his Pack, Osiris successfully abducted the newborn baby, incurring both the wrath of Police Chief Armin Velderra, and the unwelcome attention of The Prophets. Indeed, with the great interest that lies in Hope, Osiris has already suffered, particularly at the hands of the Prophets, who succeeded in abducting Hope from the virtually impregnable haven of Shane Orton, Osiris' ally. Although Osiris and the Pack of the Sane recovered Hope, during the mission Osiris demonstarted his cowardly real self, and was therefore stripped of Hope's guardianship by Livingstone.

Subsequently, Osiris has removed his own heart, using the unique Serpent's powers to do so without harm, and as a result, his cowardice - along with all other emotional responses - have begun to slip away altogether.

Recent discoveries made about the prophecy concerning the
Cardinals of Humanity - four individuals who may be able to halt the Armageddon Prophecy at the last moment - reportedly identify The Recoiling Serpent as
Osiris thought it amusing that nobody knew he was wearing his clothes inside out
Osiris - regardless of his recent 'changes'. What this may mean to his future is debatable, but it certainly makes more sense of the meaning of the voices that both he and Bishop Paige - a fellow Cardinal of Humanity - have been hearing in their heads recently.

Osiris lack of cowardice was soon to be put to the test, for an encounter with
London led to the Abomination coming into the possession of the Serpents secretly hidden heart. Giving Bishop Jemma the choice between her unlife or his, Osiris made the decision for her, and, using his unique Serpent powers, breathed corroding acids over his own heart, withering and decaying it, and taking with it his own unlife. Foolish or courageous, with his destruction, the hope that lay with the prophecy of the Cardinals of Humanity was lost.
