Flashforward - 11/09/1984
Note: My copy of the episode only includes the second half, and not the first. The first half appears to have had Jillian Coleridge Ryan (Nancy Addison Altman) and another actress (possibly Gloria DeHaven as Bess Shelby) in it, because they both appear in stills during the end credits. I also have the November 8th episode; however, it only includes the last four or five minutes of it for some reason.
 
Siobhan (holding baby Sean), Frank, Bill, and Rick are gathered in a room at Ryan's. Frank tells Rick that he needs to tell the police about the men who had been after him earlier (?). “We’ll go down to the station to file a report,” Frank tells him. They then move onto a more playful subject: Sean, and who will get to babysit him. Frank gets to baby-sit him tonight, Siobhan tells Bill, but if Bill wants, he can baby-sit Sean tomorrow night. Playfully, Bill turns to his brother Rick and tells him that Siobhan is the baby of the Ryan family, which is why they let her boss people around. Frank agrees -- Siobhan can boss anyone around, and no one can tell her otherwise.
More seriously, Frank turns to Rick and tells him that the Ryans have another rule: if one of their friends needs a character reference, they’re more than willing to supply it. Not only will the Ryans help Rick, Siobhan interjects, but so will everyone at Greenberg’s Deli. At this point, Rick gets a little emotional and excuses himself from the room. Siobhan follows him and tells him that “everyone gets choked up every now and then. Even me, and I’m the boss…right?”
 
Meanwhile, at Greenberg’s, Dave, Pru, and Maggie are ready to leave, when the phone rings. Rico answers it. It turns out that an order had been placed a day ago -- and Rico had forgotten to tell Dave about it! Because of this, Dave is forced to stay home. However, he tells Maggie that she and Pru should go to Ryan's anyway. Pru needs the "moral support as much as Rick", according to Dave. Maggie is hesitant to leave. After all, they had been together every night for an entire week -- why break a lucky streak? Dave assures her that everything's okay and that she should go . When Pru finishes helping Rico with something in the kitchen (she misplaced the salami and had to find it for him), she and Maggie leave for Ryan's.
 
At Ryan's, Maeve, Johnny, Siobhan, Pat, Bill, and Rick are in the kitchen. Maeve is making chili for everyone, and Siobhan hands a bowl to Rick. "You're being initiated into one of the Ryan's most sacred traditions," she tells Rick. "My mother's chili." They all laugh. Johnny offers to show Rick the rooms of the new bar, and Rick is more than happy to go along with him. Bill goes with them.
Frank comes in, holding baby Sean. Maeve was already getting ready to eat herself, thinking that she was done; however, she had completely forgotten about Frank! She went back to making more chili. When Maeve is done, Siobhan hands Frank a bowl of chili and says that it's his reward for watching Sean. Frank is happy to get some chili, and tells Siobhan that he'll remember her in his will. Siobhan and Maeve then leave to go out to the bar area, leaving Pat, Frank, and baby Sean by themselves.
 
Pat asks how his favorite brother is. Frank reminds him that he's his only brother. “Coincidence,“ Pat says. They begin talking about Delia. Apparently, after three months, she's finally giving Matthew the honeymoon he's wanted. "Better late than never," quips Pat.
In the main bar area, Rick is sitting on one of the stools as Johnny turns on some music. Pru and Maggie enter. He welcomes them. They're worried about Rick. Rick, Maeve, and Johnny assure them that everything is all right.
 
In another portion of the bar, Siobhan tells Bill that Rick was a real life saver when they were rebuilding the bar. Bill notes that the Hydes often gets tongue tied. Bill tells Siobhan that he is grateful for all that the Ryans have done for him and his brother. Siobhan says that Bill deserves some credit for helping Rick. Bill fears it's too late to help Rick. "It's never too late to show that you care," Siobhan tells him.
Johnny decides to show Maggie around the bar, too. He takes her into the kitchen, where Frank is with baby Sean. Frank and Maggie become uneasy. “You’re a natural born tour guide, Da,“ Frank jokes. Rick comes in and tells Johnny that they’re out of beer. Johnny leaves to help him, but first he tells Frank that he should finish Maggie's guided tour.
 
Maggie tells Frank that Dave and her haven't set a date for their wedding. Maggie asks Frank if he's going to be there. Frank says that he will, but that she shouldn't ask him to "give the bride away." Maggie responds, "How can I? You already have..." "Yeah, I guess I have," Frank replies.
