Sydney and the Blue Mountains

First here again are some general sites about Sydney:

In Sydney we stayed at the Russell Hotel. This is situated in the Rocks, and couldn't have been a more convenient place from which to visit the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Aquarium or take a trip round the harbour with Sydney Ferries, all of which, of course, we did.

We'd rented a car from Budget and drove up through Glenbrook to the Blue Mountains (there are a couple of general Web sites at Blue Mountains Tourism and Blue Mountains Web).

We stayed for two nights at the Lilianfels Blue Mountains hotel at Katoomba, which was just round the corner from Echo Point, from where there are excellent views of the Three Sisters and you can get a drink at the Three Sisters Pavilion. Went on the scenic railway and skyway at Katoomba, and did an interesting short self-guided walk round the old coal-mining area.

We drove the circular scenic route back to Sydney, stopping at Mount Tomah Botanic Garden.
