The Nolans- Series 5...

Series 5 of The Nolans was a stage when many big milestones were reached. The episodes were just getting better and better in quality, and the cast was dedicated and more alive than ever before! During this series, The Nolans reached it's 50th episode, and then 60th!

We welcomed Brett Shearer to the cast (playing the part of Bertha Hedges), someone who had previous acting experience, and was very keen to take part in something like The Nolans.

Tristan continued to be unstoppable as Jeffery, as did Stacey playing the part of Nasha and Darren playing the part of Darren.

But with things at their very best, it would have been a shame to watch the series start deteriorating due to increasingly busy lifestyles, so it was again decided that The Nolans was to be cancelled while it was on top. This time, for good...

Here's what happened in the final ever series of The Nolans...

Episode 43 (First On Air 13/7/03)- In front of Tanya's new boyfriend Chad, Jeffery starts pleading to Tanya that he still loves her and that she should be with him instead of Chad. Tanya tells Jeffery to leave her and Chad alone. The next day, Tanya tells Nasha all about Jeffery's unwelcome appearance at the restaurant the night before. Nasha asks Tanya if, deep down inside, she is still in love with Jeffery...

Episode 44 (First On Air 20/7/03)- Tanya refuses to comment to Nasha whether she still loves her ex-husband Jeffery and tells Nasha to keep out of her business. Darren drives Nasha to the prison so she can visit her father Johnny. Jeffery approaches Tanya for a chat, but is quickly told to go away, because "now isn't the time".

Episode 45 (First On Air 27/7/03)- Tanya tells Jeffery that it's over between them- that she is in love with Chad now. Jeffery refuses to believe this, and tells Tanya that it was an 18-year marriage and he can't let go of her. After continuous pressure from Jeffery, Tanya becomes upset and tells Jeffery that she is going to have to move out. Chad receives a phone call from his ex girlfriend Bertha, who invites him out for a coffee. Despite his relationship with Tanya, Chad accepts Bertha's invitation...

Episode 46 (First On Air 9/8/03)- Jeffery is talking to Darren about how disappointed he is to see his ex wife Tanya in love with Chad. During their discussion, they are horrified to spot Chad outside walking past the house, holding hands with Bertha. Chad is cheating on Bertha! Meanwhile, Nasha is at the prison visiting her father Johnny, who tells her that when he is released he wants to take her and move to Queensland. Nasha is horrified at the thought of moving away from Jeffery, Tanya, and Darren and tells Johnny she's not moving.

Episode 47 (First On Air 16/8/03)- After giving it some serious thought, Jeffery and Darren decide that they should let Tanya see for herself that Chad was holding hands with Bertha. Naturally, Tanya is upset by this. Nasha tells Johnny how much she is enjoying living with Jeffery, Tanya, and Darren and that she would rather stay living with them, which Johnny accepts. Tanya confronts Chad about his unfaithfulness. Chad tries to apologise, but Jeffery steps in...

Episode 48 (First On Air 30/8/03)- Jeffery verbally abuses Chad for cheating on Tanya and hurting her so much. Bertha also discovers that Chad had been seeing Tanya behind her back and tells him that she never wants to see him again either. Disgraced, Chad apologises to everyone and leaves... Jeffery comforts a very upset Tanya, who wishes everything could be back to how it used to be. Jeffery asks Tanya to remarry him.

Episode 49 (First On Air 6/9/03)- Tanya accepts Jeffery's proposal to re-marry and it's a very happy atmosphere. Darren and Nasha are very happy that the 'best couple around' are finally re-united. Plans for the wedding begin. Jeffery and Tanya decide to have the ceremony in a church where a free honeymoon cruise to Fiji is given. Being very generous, Jeffery and Tanya decide to give the trip to Darren and Nasha to attend as friends. It's Jeffery's buck's night, and Darren has invited two very special guests to the party and the wedding tomorrow...

Episode 50 (First On Air 13/9/03)- The two very special guests are Jeffery and Darren's father Cyril, and Jeffery's former work colleague Bob Prike. The wedding ceremony and reception are very successful, and everything goes ahead without a hitch. When the bouquet is thrown, Nasha catches it, and Darren asks her if she'll accompany him on the Fiji cruise.

Episode 51 (First On Air 20/9/03)- Nasha gives in and agrees to go on the cruise with Darren, on the condition that they are just friends and nothing more. The next morning they head off for the cruise, farewelled by a very excited Jeffery and Tanya. After the car has disappeared into the distance, Jeffery and Tanya realise that all is quiet and peaceful for the first time in ages. It's just the two of them. But not for long. Another car pulls up and Chad steps out. He has to speak Nasha urgently...

Episode 52 (First On Air 27/9/03)- With Nasha and Johnny's old house (next-door to Jeffery, Tanya and Darren) up for sale, Chad is inquiring about buying it, because Bertha had set fire to his old house. Jeffery refuses to show any sympathy, but Tanya decides that she'll help Chad with his problem... Meanwhile, on Nasha and Darren's cruise, things have become unexpectedly romantic! Nasha and Darren embrace in a passionate kiss, but Darren is too close to the edge of the ship, and falls overboard!

Episode 53 (First On Air 4/10/03)- Darren is barely holding on to the edge of the ship, but is dangling into the water. Nasha is frantically trying to save him! Darren makes one last attempt to climb back onto the ship, but slips further, loses grip, and lands in the freezing water below, unable to swim. Much to Jeffery's anger, Tanya decides that until Nasha gets home, Chad can have a room in their house. Tanya receives a disturbing phone call. It's a very distressed Nasha- Darren has been hurt!

Episode 54 (First On Air 11/10/03)- Overhearing part of the phone conversation, Jeffery discovers that his brother Darren has been involved in a serious accident at sea. He takes the phone off Tanya and learns that Darren almost died. Jeffery and Tanya leave for Sydney to meet Nasha and Darren at the hospital. Darren, very weak, slowly awakes from a sleep, surrounded by Jeffery, Tanya, and Nasha. In a very emotional scene he reveals to Jeffery and Tanya that he is in love with Nasha. Darren then reveals that he has something very important to tell them, but just as he is about to say it, his voice trails off and the heart monitor stops, indicating Darren is dead. Jeffery, still in shock, tries to work out what Darren wanted to say...

Episode 55 (First On Air 18/10/03)- Tanya calls Chad from the hospital and breaks the news to him that Darren is dead. Chad agrees to look after the house until they get home. One week later, it's Darren's funeral, and Chad offers to pay for the funeral service. Jeffery informs him that the funeral would be paid for out of Darren's bank account, that way it could be an expensive service. Much to Jeffery's surprise, Darren's credit card is declined, and the funeral director asks for another form of payment...

Episode 56 (First On Air 25/10/03)- Jeffery reveals to Tanya and Nasha that there isn't enough money available to pay for Darren's funeral. The funeral director informs Jeffery that the bank account is actually $200,000 in the red, and issues a notice of debt- The Nolans have one week to pay for the funeral. Nasha admits to Chad that she had suspicions about Darren's past. A member from Froppert Bank & Building Society arrives at the house to speak with Jeffery. The debts owing in Darren's bank account are a lot worse than everyone first thought!

Episode 57 (First On Air 1/11/03)- It turns out that Darren secretly had houses, cars, and properties all around the world that he couldn't really afford- $850,000 in debt that has now been left for Jeffery to somehow pay! After being informed that the family home would be one of the first things to be repossessed later that day, Jeffery breaks the news to Tanya, Nasha, and Chad. Jeffery, Tanya, and Nasha book themselves into a motel to live for a few nights. Chad decides to stay home and make his own arrangements for where he'll live. Jeffery, Tanya, and Nasha arrive back at the house again to collect their belongings, only to find that Chad has drenched the house in petrol...

Episode 58 (First On Air 8/11/03)- A very scared and confused Jeffery approaches Chad to ask why the house has been drenched in petrol. Chad would rather see the house explode in flames than have another family settle in it. Jeffery, Tanya, and Nasha try to talk Chad out of what he is about to do. Nasha runs into the house to answer a phone call from her father. Jeffery, becoming angry, threatens to come and take the box of matches out of Chad's hand, but before he can get there, Chad has lit the match, and the Nolan family home explodes in flames- with Chad and Nasha inside!

Episode 59 (First On Air 15/11/03)- A very distraught Jeffery and Tanya try to work out what to do, their house is a big ball of fire, with two of their friends inside. Part of the house collapses with another blast, and Jeffery realises it's too late to save either one of them- Chad and Nasha have both burned to death. The next day, Jeffery and Tanya head back to Melbourne where they used to live, and find that their old house from 2 years ago is vacant again! Jeffery receives a phone call from former work colleague, Bob Prike.

Episode 60 (First On Air 22/11/03)- The job that Jeffery declined nearly 2 years ago, to become manager of Computers Plus in Melbourne is available again and Bob has called to offer the position to Jeffery again! Jeffery more than willingly takes the job. It's time for Jeffery and Tanya to head back to their old house from two years ago and move back in. Things are suddenly getting back on track for The Nolans. They open up the door, and a surprise party is waiting for them! The very emotional final scene is Jeffery and Tanya discovering all of the people who have arrived at the party to welcome them back to their old home.
