The Nolans- Series 4...
During the time that Chris Rippon was a part of Aaron Live At Five (hosting the Motoring Segment), he suggested to Aaron one night on air that The Nolans should be brought back on air. This threw Aaron completely off guard, but nevertheless gave him something to think about. At the start of the very next month, November 2002, (just 4 months after the series was axed), The Nolans made a triumphant return to the airwaves!
To begin with, it was only re-runs of Series 2 and Series 3, but at the end of March 2003, a brand new series of The Nolans hit the airwaves. The quality was better than ever, both in the acting, and the editing, and some of the old characters made their return, as well as a couple of brand new ones.
So, below is a description of every episode that went to air in Series 4- the series that gave The Nolans a very welcome return to the airwaves...

Episode 28 (First On Air 30/3/03)- Tanya is on her way home from the trip to Italy that her good friend Aaron had paid for. Darren (Jeffery's brother) and Nasha (former next-door neighbour) have been minding the house in Tanya's absence and are discussing whose fault it is that Jeffery had died, when all of a sudden there is a knock at the door. They answer the door, expecting it to be Tanya home from her holiday, however, they are shocked when they discover who is really at the door...
Episode 29 (First On Air 6/4/03)- Gaping in shock, fear, and surprise, Nasha and Darren greet the person at the front door- Jeffery! Jeffery was equally as surprised to hear that Darren and Nasha thought he was dead! Jeffery hadn't died. When he jumped off that lighthouse, he swam ashore to a distant island. Jeffery is furious with Tanya for thinking he was dead. He lets Nasha and Darren know that Tanya won't live this one down...
Episode 30 (First On Air 13/4/03)- Darren and Nasha try to talk Jeffery out of having a go at Tanya when she gets home. Nasha assures Jeffery that this issue can be sorted out if he and Tanya just give it a try. Tanya arrives home, very excited and happy to see Jeffery still alive. However, Jeffery is still furious with Tanya for presuming him to be dead and tells her that they need to have a serious talk.
Episode 31 (First On Air 20/4/03)- Jeffery announces to Tanya that he wants a divorce- their 18 year marriage is over. Tanya and Jeffery announce to Darren and Nasha that they are breaking up. Darren tries to plead with Jeffery to change his mind and accept Tanya back as his wife, but Jeffery's mind is made up. Jeffery loses his temper with Darren, Tanya, and Nasha and tells them they are all as bad as each other, before storming out of the house in a rage.
Episode 32 (First On Air 27/4/03)- Tanya comes to terms with the fact Jeffery doesn't want to be married to her anymore. Darren and Nasha advise Tanya that she needs to go and speak to him. After Tanya leaves to go and find Jeffery, Nasha and Darren talk about what life would be like now they had split up. Darren is confident his brother Jeffery will eventually forgive Tanya, but Nasha isn't so sure, and talks about how Jeffery and Tanya are like her second parents. In the middle of all the trouble, Tanya's mother rings up make sure everyone is happy...
Episode 33 (First On Air 4/5/03)- Darren is busy on the phone trying to convince Tanya's mother that everything is happy, that Jeffery's death is in the past, when all of a sudden Jeffery walks in, and Tanya's mother hears him talking in the background. Darren hurries Tanya's mother off the phone, to have a listen to what Jeffery has to say. Jeffery and Tanya announce that although they are still going to divorce, they will stay living together with Darren and Nasha as best friends. Just as everything seems settled, a canned laughter sound suddenly appears in the action, leaving the four of them very puzzled...
Episode 34 (First On Air 11/5/03)- Jeffery, Tanya, Nasha, and Darren try to work out why they have suddenly got a canned laughter effect like they are part of a sitcom in their talking. They wait until next morning to see if it goes away. That canned laughter didn't go away over night, and Jeffery decides to call Tanya, Nasha, and Darren together for a household meeting to work out what to do about it. Nasha suggests they see a family councillor. Jeffery makes an appointment for the four of them.
Episode 35 (First On Air 18/5/03)- At the family councillor's office, Jeffery, Tanya, Nasha, and Darren find that Dr. Blowtorch is completely useless in solving their problem. He doesn't know anything about what he's talking about. Furious with the poor quality session they've received, they storm out of his office and complain to the receptionist who lets them know that he really is a useless doctor. This receptionist also lets them know that she herself knows what could be causing that canned laughter effect.
Episode 36 (First On Air 25/5/03)- The receptionist lets Jeffery, Tanya, Nasha, and Darren know that they have contracted "Sitcomism", and that is what's causing their sitcom laugh effect that has been bugging them. Some pills are prescribed for them to take, which will cure the bizarre disorder. The four of them thank the receptionist and head home. Nasha reads the label on the pills. It says that a side-effect of the pills is for people to start singing uncontrollably. Very puzzled by this, they are left curious, until Tanya decides to try one of the pills herself, and they learn the hard way that the side-effect is serious and nothing to be messed with or laughed at...
Episode 37 (First On Air 1/6/03)- Tanya has been rushed to hospital, and Jeffery, Nasha, and Darren are very shocked that Tanya has become so sick from taking one pill. The doctor comes and lets them know that Tanya will be better soon, and the canned laughter effect will die down eventually. An announcement comes over the P.A. in the hospital calling the Nolan family to ward 5A. When they realise they can't possibly know anyone else who could be in hospital, they are left very worried as to who might want to see them in ward 5A and why...
Episode 38 (First On Air 8/6/03)- Jeffery, Nasha, and Darren spend a few minutes wondering who could be wanting to see them in the hospital besides Tanya, and just as they are about to start heading for ward 5A, the doctor comes and lets them know that Tanya is ready for visitors. Nasha decides to visit Tanya and let the guys investigate ward 5. Tanya and Nasha discover a very handsome looking man in the distance, and immediately fall for him. He approaches them and introduces himself as Tanya's new nurse, Chad. Meanwhile, Jeffery and Darren arrive at ward 5A and get a huge surprise when they discover who is there...
Episode 39 (First On Air 15/6/03)- The mysterious person in ward 5A turns out to be Jeffery and Darren's father, Cyril. Cyril is very sick, and has been flown in from Sydney to be treated because his situation is very serious. Jeffery and Darren let Cyril know that Tanya is also sick in hospital, and they farewell him, then head back off to see her. Irresistible nurse, Chad, lets Tanya know that she is almost well enough to go home, and the two spend a few minutes flirting, and organising to go out for a drink one day. Just as they agree to a drink, Jeffery and Darren walking in, giving Chad the impression that Tanya was lying to him and really is married. Chad is very upset...
Episode 40 (First On Air 22/6/03)- Chad lets Tanya know he is sorely disappointed with her, for lying about not being married. However, Tanya manages to interrupt him and let him know that she isn't married. She introduces Jeffery to Chad as her ex husband but now best friend, and Darren as Jeffery's brother who also lives with them. The date is back on. It's official! Chad and Tanya are very excited. It's happiness all round until Jeffery goes home and has a dream about Tanya. It's haunting him that she is going to be seeing someone else. He awakes from his dream and admits the truth to Darren- he is still in love with Tanya!
Episode 41 (First On Air 29/6/03)- Tanya and Nasha talk about Tanya's upcoming date with Chad. She is very nervous, yet very excited to be dating again. Tanya really likes Chad a lot. Darren gives Jeffery the "I told you so" talk, and reminds him that it was his idea to divorce Tanya. Jeffery really starts to notice what he has lost. Darren advises Jeffery that he has to get over Tanya. His time with her is over and he has to move on. However, Jeffery isn't satisfied, and decides he has to stop the romance between Tanya and Chad before it goes any further...
Episode 42 (First On Air 6/7/03)- Darren reminds Jeffery of what they had decided- that they both, along with Tanya and Nasha, were to be just friends now, no more romance between Jeffery and Tanya. Jeffery finds out from Nasha that Tanya has left for her date with Chad, and lets Darren and Nasha know that he is going to sort things out... Meanwhile, at Tanya and Chad's romantic date, the two are getting along great, laughing, joking, and talking about how much they care about each other, when suddenly Jeffery arrives, spoiling the fun. He lets Tanya know that he has so much he has to talk about with her...
