The Nolans- Series 3...

When it was time for series three of The Nolans to be written, recorded, and edited, it was becoming obvious that, even though the series was improving immensely and getting a number of fans listening in and hooked on the storylines, things could not go on the way they were.

An announcement was made that The Nolans was to be cancelled and the next series, series 3 would be the last. Naturally there was great sadness, but it was time for a shuffle around on Aaron Live At Five, and getting the main actors such as Tristan (Jeffery) and Stacey (Ebony) together was quite hard because everyone was busy.

Shannon Currie, who played Johnny in series two was unavailable when it came to producing a third series of The Nolans, and Shaun Kestle stepped in as the new Johnny, a somewhat different character, who made the series seem more amusing, yet more serious at the same time due to the way he handled his violent storylines.

All of the characters had to be neatly written out in this third series, and a logical ending to all the drama and excitement had to be found. All of this was done in thirteen episodes.
Here are some of the highlights from the third, and what originally was, the final series.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 15 (First On Air 5/5/02)- It comes down to the crunch and Jeffery can no longer put off deciding out of his wife Tanya and best mate Johnny, who he wants to keep in his life. He makes quite a speech to the two of them, explaining how important each of them is to him, then reveals he has to keep his wife and tells Johnny he has to leave. There is an awkward silence, and then a knock at the front door...

Episode 16 (First On Air 12/5/02)- It was Ebony and Nasha at the front door and they are both very upset to learn they can no longer be friends because Tanya won't allow it. Jeffery and Johnny say goodbye to each other, and Nasha and Ebony say goodbye to each other, before Johnny and Nasha leave for good. Ebony, disgusted, yells at her mother in anger that she isn't letting her see Nasha anymore.

Episode 17 (First On Air 19/5/02)- Tanya tries to explain to Ebony that getting Nasha and Johnny out of their lives was the right thing to do, but Ebony refuses to listen, slamming the door and going to her room. Tanya and Jeffery spend some time alone and Tanya thanks Jeffery for choosing her over his best mate. After a loving kiss, Jeffery makes his way to bed but is faced with Johnny in his bedroom who wants Jeffery to come with him, and he'd explain everything after.

Episode 18 (First On Air 26/5/02)- Johnny, who had snuck his way inside the house into Jeffery's bedroom insists that he'd be better off with a mate like himself than a wife like Tanya and refuses to let Jeffery go, announcing that he is "kidnapping" him. With a struggle, Jeffery leaves the house , held on to by Johnny, and just as they had left, Tanya walks in to the bedroom only to find that Jeffery is missing...

Episode 19 (First On Air 2/6/02)- Tanya tells Ebony that her father had gone missing last night, and the two try to work out where Jeffery might be. Tanya and Ebony realise for the first time that maybe Jeffery has been kidnapped...Jeffery wakes up next-door at Johnny's house on what Johnny had decided would be their "first day of being free together without Tanya". Jeffery protests that he wants to see his wife, but Johnny lets him know that he won't be seeing her for a while. Just as Johnny is threatening Jeffery, there is a knock at the door. It's Tanya...

Episode 20 (First On Air 9/6/02)- Johnny manages to cover up so that Tanya doesn't suspect him of knowing where Jeffery is. As Tanya leaves and heads home, Johnny realises he has to act fast to keep Jeffery hidden from her. Leaving Jeffery tied up in the basement, Johnny announces to him that he has a plan to stop Tanya from ever finding him, before going and knocking on Tanya's front door with the intention of offering her his (false) support for the disappearance of Jeffery...

Episode 21 (First On Air 16/6/02)- Tanya agrees to speak to Johnny. Johnny asks Tanya if she has called the police yet regarding Jeffery's disappearance and when she says she hadn't, Johnny offers to do it for her, and instantly wins his way into her good books. Johnny tells Tanya he is going to ring the police, and goes back home to check on his prisoner Jeffery. Johnny tells Jeffery that he and Tanya have put their differences behind them and are making friends. For the time being, Johnny throws the tied-up Jeffery into the back of his car.

Episode 22 (First On Air 23/6/02)- Tanya tells Ebony that she can be friends with Nasha again because her and Johnny had put their differences behind them. Tanya is completely under the impression that Johnny is being genuinely supportive towards her! Jeffery, who has been held captive for nearly three days is begging Johnny for something to eat, but all Johnny seems to care about is telling him how well he is getting on with Tanya all of a sudden. Johnny decides to let Jeffery go, but just as he is talking to him and untying him, Tanya arrives at the front door, and discovers the horrible truth for herself...

Episode 23 (First On Air 30/6/02)- Tanya discovers some of her Jeffery's belongings lying on the floor and demands to know what Johnny has done with him. Johnny doesn't hesitate in telling Tanya that Jeffery would be better off with a good friend like himself than a crazy wife like Tanya. Tanya runs out to call the police, and as she is telling Nasha and Ebony about the kidnapping, she is interrupted by the police officer who reveals to them that Johnny has done a runner from the cops...

Episode 24 (First On Air 7/7/02)- Nasha reveals to the police officer, Tanya, and Ebony that she suspects her father would be now doing what ever he can to avoid the cops catching him, and stresses that he'd go to any extent to do so. The police officer instructs Tanya to go home and wait by the phone for any call from Jeffery in case he rang. Jeffery realises that he can't go back home because Tanya would think he has been visiting Johnny all this time and would walk out on him. He is surprised by Johnny who tells him he is on the run from the cops and would have to "finish him off" so Jeffery couldn't talk to the cops. Just as Johnny is about to pull the trigger on Jeffery, the police officer comes along and arrests Johnny for abduction. Johnny is taken away.

Episode 25 (First On Air 14/7/02)- Ebony and Nasha decide that the situation at home involving Tanya, Johnny and Jeffery is pretty messy and they should get away for a while until it all dies down. They head off on a trip to Italy to visit Ebony's brother, Gavin. Tanya receives a phone call from Gavin who is back in Australia for a visit. Tanya urgently instructs Gavin to head to the lighthouse where he thought he had seen Jeffery earlier. Gavin arrives at the lighthouse just as Jeffery is planning on jumping off to the cruel rocks below to end his life...

Episode 26 (First On Air 21/7/02)- Gavin tries to talk his father Jeffery out of jumping off the lighthouse to end his life. Gavin tells Jeffery that if he jumps off, he is jumping off there after him. Jeffery doesn't listen to Gavin and jumps off the lighthouse plunging to his death. Gavin follows. An hour later, Tanya receives the phone call from the police that her son and husband are both dead, and immediately begins to organise a joint funeral. At the funeral, Tanya is spoken to by someone she doesn't know, but who has a very familiar voice...

Episode 27 (First On Air 28/7/02)- The familiar voice introduces himself as Aaron, someone who had created Tanya, Jeffery, and Gavin into a "series". Horrified at the rubbish this man is talking about, Tanya calls out to the police officer to come and take Aaron away. But the police officer tells Tanya that he has organised Aaron especially so Tanya would have someone to talk to through this traumatic time. Aaron then offers Tanya two plane tickets for her and himself and says they are for Italy so they could find Ebony and Nasha. Tanya swears she knows that voice of Aaron's from somewhere as the series of The Nolans draws to a close, for what was the last time, till series 4 was made by popular demand...
