The Nolans- Series 2...
Series two of The Nolans showed a large improvement to not only the sound quality of the episodes, but also to the acting of the characters. The long theme tune to the series was dropped, and replaced with a brand new short, sharp and jazzy theme. Nine episodes were recorded in series two.
We said goodbye to Gavin and said hello to two brand new characters, Nasha and Johnny Sesterfield, the next-door neighbours to Jeffery, Tanya, and Ebony at their new home.
Probably one of the most obvious changes to The Nolans cast occurred when the part of Ebony, previously played by Rhiannon Gardner was taken over by Stacey Bentley, because Rhiannon wasn't available the day series two was recorded.
Here's some highlights from the second series.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Episode 6 (First On Air 10/2/02)- The police officer that had pulled Jeffery over on the side of the road gives the family some good news. They won the raffle, and the house on the Mornington Peninsula is theirs! Gavin is then approached by Mario, his boss from the pizza shop job, who asks him to go to Italy with him and study pizza making for a living.
Episode 7 (First On Air 17/2/02)- After asking his parents Jeffery and Tanya whether he could go to Italy to study making pizzas for a living and getting their approval, Gavin accepts Mario's offer and after an emotional goodbye, Gavin is gone. Ebony is thrilled at being an only child now that her brother has gone. The Nolans arrive at their new house, and Jeffery thinks he can see someone already inside that they don't know.
Episode 8 (First On Air 24/2/02)- At first, Tanya and Ebony refuse to believe there is someone already inside their new house, but Jeffery is fast to the front door to confront the person. It is the new next-door neighbour Johnny and he was only inside the house making sure it was safe for the new residents. Tanya goes to the toilet and screams when she discovers someone else in the toilet already.
Episode 9 (First On Air 3/3/02)- After that high-pitched scream, Tanya meets who it was in the toilet. It was Johnny's daughter Nasha. She was also looking after the place with her father. By the next day, Jeffery and Johnny are great friends, and Ebony and Nasha are also great friends. When Johnny is out of the room for a moment, Tanya starts to tell Jeffery that she finds something a little bit weird about their new neighbours but is interrupted by a phone call from Bob, Jeffery's boss at his work.
Episode 10 (First On Air 10/3/02)- Bob Prike is ringing to let Jeffery know that he has been promoted to manager of the company, because the old boss has left. Jeffery breaks the news to Bob about winning the new house and his plans to leave the company, and when Bob tells Jeffery that taking the job as manager would mean a company car and a huge wage increase, Jeffery doesn't know how to respond...
Episode 11 (First On Air 17/3/02)- Jeffery gives the move back to Melbourne and the chance at being manager of the company a final thought, then decides to stay living on the Mornington Peninsula and not take the job because he and his family were happily settling down. Tanya's dislike towards Johnny builds even more when he comes to see if Jeffery is home and tries unsuccessfully to start up a conversation with her. As he turns to leave, he knocks something that makes a loud smashing noise. Tanya screams at him...
Episode 12 (First On Air 24/3/02)- Tanya expresses her disapproval that Johnny had knocked over her great grandmother's 90 year old favourite vase. Johnny can't seem to find anything wrong with what he has done, and Tanya sends him home and slams the door. As soon as Johnny leaves, Tanya goes to the phone and calls Jeffery, telling him she has to talk to him, urgently!
Episode 13 (First On Air 31/3/02)- The episode starts with Ebony and Nasha talking about school and it becomes evident just how close their friendship is becoming. Nasha offered to help Ebony with her studies because she is still only new to her new school. Nasha confronts Jeffery about Johnny. She tells Jeffery how much she hates and resents Johnny and Nasha having connections with her family, and makes Jeffery choose between her and Johnny, who he wants to keep in his life.
Episode 14 (First On Air 7/4/02)- Jeffery is protesting the unfair decision Tanya has just asked him to make. Tanya stands firm and won't let up. She again tells Jeffery that it would be a shame to throw away 18 years of marriage, and just as the two are arguing, Johnny walks in and asks why Tanya and Jeffery were talking about him behind his back. Jeffery admits to Johnny that Tanya doesn't like him very much, and tells him that Tanya has made him choose out of his marriage and his friendship with him. In front of both Tanya and Johnny, Jeffery is left to make his decision...
