A New Version 6 Rumor?

This is probably an old rumor that SCEI has launched PS2 with a new v6 main board. After doing some research on the net, the difference between v5 and v6 is only the position of ribbon connector for the power and eject switches, which has been changed upside-down. This change could be intended to stop the use of the no solder R mod. However a new no solder R mod for v6 is already out there.

True Non Swap Mod - Messiah

Finally, one of our staff, has his PS2 modified by Relayer Electronics with Messiah clone non-swap modchip on AUS PS2 PAL, SCPH 30002R v5. It 100% boots local PAL and import US NTSC original games, CD-R and DVD-R based backups without failure. Also, we've tested it using A/V, S-Video and component cables and there's no major issue to be concerned as it has been quite a while, since there was a bloke, reported having a picture shaking problem when using component cable with his PS2 Messiah-ed.

New Modchip - NovaChip

A new modchip release for PS2 US/J NTSC v3 and v4 with similar features as Origa US/J NTSC; playing local and import originals without a swap, local and import CDR/DVDR backups with Action Replay 2 and GameShark2. It has a smaller design than Origa (Novachip has 18 pins & Origa has 28 pins). Another advantage is, With this chip, PS2 [RESET] button can be used to switch games and reset the system.
