is a small island, 130 km long and 45 km wide (slightly smaller than
Bali), lying just 125 km off Sumatera's west coast, close enough that the
latter's volcanic peaks can be seen on clear day.Nias is a small island,

numbers about 620,000 people from various ethnic groups including Batak,
Malay and Chinese. Nias can be reached by ferries available daily and also
domestic flight.
The villages of Bawomataluo and Hilisimae tano are spellbinding places to visit, where visitors can see the performance of the traditional war-dance and thriling traditional highjump sports. Nias is extremely inaccessible, yet has some of the island's greatest art treasures. The houses are rectangular and ornamented with bold geometric sculptures. (behu) and horizontal (harefa) megaliths. Sorake and Lagundri beaches which located in southern Nias are one of the best place in the world to surf. It's famed of its wonderful huge waves.
