MID TAPANULI

Mid tapanuli is a regency located on the western coast of North Sumatera. Some of the area is highland where visitors can enjoy the nice mixture of coastal and mountainous atmosphere. Most of the people come from coastal tribes. The rest are Batak Minang, Nias and Mandailing Angkola. In this area you can find historical artifacts such as ancient tombs and tools related to the first entrance of Muslim into Indonesia. This area can be reached by land and air transportation (from Medan and Pekan Baru) and also by sea transportation from Jakarta and Padang.

Pandan Beach located about 11 km from Sibolga, right along the road from Sibolga to Padang Sidempuan not far from Pinang Sari airport. There are several restaurant here that offer various kinds of food especially sea food, street stals that sell local handicraft

Mursala Island with area about 600 hectare can be reached by using regular boats or speed boats from harbour in Sibolga. The coral reefs around the island can be easily seen because the water is very clear. One of spesial natural attractions is a waterfall which might be the only waterfall in the world which falls directly from the mountain into the sea. This is a good place for people who like diving, fishing in the sea and hunting in the forest.
