Uno: She's a poser.
Now, usually I don't judge people like this, but this is just so obvious, I could scream. Avril even used to be a cheerleader, so I don't know what her problem is. Listen, Avril, slapping on a pair of Converses and a necktie don't make you a punk, and that spiked bracelet and little sleeve things won't help either. Punk music is NOT Simple Plan and Blink-182, it has a history to it. I don't know if Avril is aware of this, she probably isn't, but punk rock isn't a bunch of whiny, emocore garage bands ripping off Green Day. So shut up and let the people who actually know what's going on handle it, okay?
Dos: Her music is terrible.
The music Avril makes is pure pop and yet, for some reason unbeknownst to me, no one can seem to get a hold of that fact. Punk music is not "You're being a poser, wahh wahh, he's a loser, she's a cheerleader, blah blah blah." That's just ripping off everything Blink-182 has already done, and it's not the best anyway. Electric guitar + pop music does NOT equal punk. The lyrics are shallow and utterly pointless, so Avril should just stop trying to make it seem like she wrote them from her heart. If you write a song from your heart, I don't think it would be called "Sk8er Boi". That's not heart talk. That's l33t. What a load.
Tres: Everyone's inexplicable love for her.
Avril says she is a punk and makes punk music, yet strangely, all her fans seem to be preps. *mock horror*. Avril even said she hates preps. So does that mean she hates her fans? What a great idol. I seriously doubt that someone who listens to the Sex Pistols or The Clash would say that Avril's music is punk. A lot of people have said to me, "Avril never said she was a punk!" Oh yeah? What about that "Kiss me, I'm punk" pin she had? Or what about when she said her music is pop-punk? What about that time she said she got made fun of in high school for being a skater punk (which is a total load of bull anyway, this is what she looked like in high school)? Pay attention, people.
Quatro: She's a self-contradicting liar.
It must be hard pretending to be something you know nothing about. I'll have to read about it in Avril's autobiography if she ever writes one. She's always saying things and then contradicting them. Like when she said she hates makeup. What about that hideous, zombielike 19 pounds of eyeliner she wears? I saw less of that stuff in the "Thriller" video than on her. She also once said that she had to grow up on "the mean streets of Canada" where she had to "survive". First off, there's no such thing as a "mean street" in Canada. Hell, the meanest graffiti they have there is "Obey the rules". That's besides the point though. The contradicting part of this ludicrous statement is that previously, Avril said she grew up in a rich Canadian suburb. Well, which is it? Did some little kid accidentally throw a baseball and break your window? Oh, God, save us. The little kid broke her window. She contradicts herself so much, that I'm just going to shut up here and put the rest on the quotes page. Next.
Cinco: She's a talentless, overrated hack.
Last I checked, making claims you can't prove doesn't qualify as having talent. She claims to be such a damn good guitarist, though oddly enough, no one has seen her actually play one live. Suspicious. Holding a guitar and flinging the pick up and down in a music video doesn't mean you can actually play it. Hearing Avril say this is just a disgrace to all the guitarists out there who actually DO play and do a damn good job of it, too (I'm looking in Tom Morello's direction). And another thing, she says she's such a good skateboarder, but the best trick she can do is an ollie, which is pretty much the first trick you learn. Oooh, Avril did an ollie at the show, she's so hard core. Plus, her singing voice sucks. Even when I didn't know who she was and I heard a song of hers on the radio, I said to myself, "Damn, this singer sucks." Her voice is whiny and annoying and it gives me a headache. Her voice in concert sounds nothing like her CD voice because that's just how badly she needs audio provisions and tweaking. Take a throat drop and try to stay in tune to your own damn song, will you, lady? Jesus.
Seis: She's a bad role model.
I always hear people saying "She's my role model", and "I want to be just like Avril!", and it sickens me that so many people have such low aspirations. Well, Janie, I think you might want a new role model, because this one just ain't right in the head. Avril drinks, which isn't good, because she's only 18. Drinking isn't that good for you, especially when you aren't even 21 yet. She also smokes, which from what I can gather, is kinda bad for your physical being. And to top her blatant delinquency off, she dropped out of school. What a great role model. Avril is a loser, and if you want to be like her, you are, too.
See? Other people hate her, too. My buddy Dilandau has a better idea of someone you could look up to:
Here's a girl that can, and DOES, actually rock.
Paz Lenchantin.
The bassist for Zwan, and she did music (such as cello, violin, bass, etc...) for A Perfect Circle's first album (Mer de Noms). She's talented, and she doesn't need ten pounds of make-up to look gorgeous.
That's how it's done.
Now then, Nicole T. also has a few choice reasons why Avril should be hated. Check it out.
