Countrystars.com has posted an article on the relationship between  sales and artists for major record labels.
In a year that saw almost a 10% drop (9.9) in overall country album sales last year (from 76.905 million to 69.311 million) the flagship stars at several labels played overpowering roles in keepings the ships of state afloat, notes Music Row magazine.
Shania twain represents 71% of Mercury Nashville's sales! "Rascal Flatts was responsible for 100% of Lyric Street's Top 100 unit sales. Shania provided 71% for Mercury. Alan Jackson scanned 62% for Arista. And the Dixie Chicks floated 60% of the Sony boat."

Did you know that Sandra Bullock uses haemorrhoid cream to shrink the bags under her eyes; Naomi Campbell smears her   lips in raspberry Jell-O to keep them red; and Shania Twain moisturises with a remedy initially developed to prevent chapping on cows' udders. Catherine Zeta Jones keeps her teeth white by brushing them with strawberries; Nicole Kidman washed her hair in cranberry juice' and Sarah Jessica Parker washes her hair in a shampoo that is specially formulated for horses. As for Anorak's favourite hotel heiress Paris Hilton, she as anyone who has seen her video will confirm, keeps her teeth white with an altogether different product.

Saturday 17th January 2004 - Hatarei 17 Hanuere 2004

Ever wonder why Shania takes a lot of time to complete an album? Well, that was the number one question from
Shania fans while we were waiting for her album Up! Besides taking time off to have a baby,
Shania writes all her own songs. Shania says "I write everything I record and I guess that's why it takes me
so long to make my records because you know, when you write it all yourself it's time consuming," Shania
says. "It's just so much more rewarding that way as well. And it's just part of who I am. Even if I wasn't
a singer I would still be a songwriter; they're kind of 2 separate entities really. The singer side is
really the performer side but the songwriter is just a
complete creative side."
