                           Proposition 72

Favor of Proposition 72

• The reason why Proposition 72 is good is because not many families have healthcare insurance.
• Also because the healthcare for individuals keeps rising in cost.
• Proposition 72 will provide healthcare to 1.1 million people and children who do not have healthcare coverage.
• Proposition 72 protect taxpayers by providing healthcare coverage to an additional 1.1 million workers and their children so that they do not have to pay for emergency room visit and healthcare bill.

Against Proposition 72

• It does not reduce the cost or control the cost of healthcare insurance.
• It will force employees to pay for healthcare insurance whether they can afford it or not.
• It will cost worker an average of $1,700 per year, and they must pay the 20% for their dependants, it could cost workers up to $6,800 per year.
• It will cost school districts hundreds of millions annually.
• Only covers for a certain number of people, not mandatory to all.
• If the government runs healthcare system, many people may lose their existing private healthcare insurance and end up with a state run plan. This could also cost people to lose access to their doctors and hospitals that they already have access to
• Many people will lose their jobs and many companies will leave the state.
