      George W. Bush
     Environment/ Pollution
During the 2004 presidential debate, President Bush was asked, “What
specifically has your administration done to improve the condition
of our nation's air and water supply?” Bush answers with, “Off-road
diesel engines, we a reached an agreement to reduce pollution from off-road
diesel engines by 90%. I've got a plan to increase the wetlands by 3
million. We've got an aggressive brown field program to refurbish inner-city
sore spots to useful pieces of property. I proposed to the Congress a
Clear Skies Initiative to reduce sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and mercury
by 70%. I fought for a strong title in the farm bill for the conservation
reserve program to set aside millions of acres of land for - to help
improve wildlife and the habitat. We proposed and passed a healthy forest
bill to protect old stands of trees and at the same time, make sure our
forests aren't vulnerable to the forest fires that have destroyed acres
after acres in the West. I proposed a hydrogen-generated automobile.
We're spending a billion dollars to come up with the technologies to
do that.” (http://www.issues2000.org/2004/George_W__Bush_Environment.htm)
Bush has many great ideas to improve the environment and the amount
of pollution in the states, but in order to do so; we must spend billions of dollars.

Taxation
Bush believes the role of government is to stand side by side with
citizens to help them realize their dreams, not to tell citizens how
to live their lives. In 2001 Bush promised to reduce the tax burden on
the American people. The tax cuts worked and Bush continues to press
the Congress to make cuts and is planning to abolish the death tax. "What
Bush has done has been not very big, it's pretty small," says Edward
 Prescott to CNBC. (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20041011/
pl_afp/nobel_economics_us_taxes_041011212152)
Bush, who is fighting to get re-elected November 2, has cut taxes by
about 1.7 trillion dollars during his term.

Elderly Concerns
George W. Bush believes that all Americans should have access to affordable,
quality health care. Bush’s plan to reduce the rising cost of health
care provides affordable coverage to those who need it most; low income
children and families, small businesses, the self-employed, the elderly,
and people who do not get health benefits through their job. To achieve
these goals, Bush has established new tax-free Health Savings Accounts
to allow Americans to own and control their own health care. He will
also try to expand community and rural health centers, extend eligibility
under Medicaid, lower drug costs for millions of Americans, and Create
a Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit to help the less fortunate children,
 families, and elderly.

Education

President Bush believes that every child deserves the best education they can get.  That is why he created the No Child Gets Left Behind Act, which makes literacy a law that everyone must have.  We are not just going to let kids pass from grade to grade without meeting the standards.  He plans to strengthen the programs that improve childhood education.  He wants to improve high schools by giving a $250 million dollars to help improve the tests.  He wants to help striving students and also to encourage students to take harder classes.

Some people believe that this No Child Gets Left Behind Act will lower the standards and accountability.  He promises to provide funds for the programs needed to help students but he didn’t mention where he was going to get he money from.  It is said that he is forcing states to pay for these new tests that are being given to students.  Yet these payments are being forced upon us through the taxes.  Every student that goes to school should get a good education with all the money that we are paying for it.

Crime

President Bush is doing what he can to reduce crimes in America.  He wants former prisoners second chances.  He supports a national hate crimes bill and wants stricter law enforcement.  He wants to limit frivolous lawsuits.  He talks a lot about juvenile crimes.  Tougher justice laws, stricter boot camps, increase the penalties given to juveniles, and trying juveniles as adults for serious crimes.

To give former prisoners second chances, there is going to be a lot of money involved.  He plans to spend $300 million to give workers training and placement services, housing and mentoring for these former prisoners.  He has not said where he is going to get this money.  Although he is all for the lowering of crimes, for some reason he is trying to avoid the Byrd hate crime bill.  The family of Byrd wants to enhance the bill but Bush is not will to work with them.  He claims that making one group stronger might weaken the existing laws.  Crime is a big problem in this country and we need someone who is going to do something about it. Health Care: President Bush believes all Americans should have the opportunity to receive affordable, quality health care. He is working to address the root causes of rising health care costs. The President’s plan reduces the rising cost of health care, the affordable coverage to those who are need of this great advantage, which are people with low income, children and families, mediocre businesses, the self-employed, and people who do not get health benefits through their job. President Bush’s method to achieve the goal of health care is: · “To allow Americans to own and control their own health care.” · “Expanded community and rural health centers” · “Extend eligibility under Medicaid” · “Lower drug costs for Americans” · “Create Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit” Employment: From the tax cuts, job opportunities were unleashed. The President’s control was in Congress of returning taxpayer money to the families, entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors who earned it. Competitive economy that will continue to be a strong engine for jobs and prosperity for years to come. He wanted to reform education, build a skilled staff, and simpler tax system, support the production of the community, stock markets around America, and reforming the Government to become well-organized. George Bush believes that America should be structured into an organization filled with job opportunities and etc.
