Measure K
Arguments For
- Health and safety benefits guaranteed for entire community
- Returns students to classroom through a truancy court program and
allows schools to recover lost money from the daily attendance
- Money raised will be used for the student’s benefit to graduate
knowing how to read and write
- Supply students with after school tutoring programs
- Next year school budget will be reduced another $10 million
- The parcel taxes and bond measures will bring good teachers and
will repair old classrooms and build new elementary schools
Arguments Against
- The new parcel tax could be used to fill holes in the district’s
budget caused by wasteful spending such as:
- District radio and TV shows $42,670
- Catered meals $36,235.78
- Travel budget overruns $36, 847.62
- Credit card audits $20,000
- School boards association dues $130,960
- There’s no requirement that any of the $ used for measure
k goes to increase student’s safety or the used of modern technology
