Filtering

Filtering out duplicate lines and floods keeps your chat screen

clean you still see the first couple instances of the duplicate

message. This also apply's to room boots and blocks the

repeated bootcodes.

Reduce the size of large fonts is handy. Ever get these people

who must think everyone else is blind so they use a font size

32' by reducing the size of the fonts everyone's font will

appear the same size on your screen.

Remove font effects will cause if ticked the removal of all

colors and other effects. All users fonts will appear as normal

black arial font size 10'. I personally like to be able to see

color on my screen although the colors some people use

leave a lot to be desired. When this option can be applied to

individuals then I will use it.

Advanced Filtering

Prevent other users from connecting directly to yahoo messenger

this is important to be ticked. If a booter can connect directly

to messenger they will be able to cause messenger to crash.

Prevent other people from seeing my ip addresss and profiles

is also important to prevent the booter from obtaining any profile

names you may use and hackers from obtaining your ip number.

Block conference invites from people that are not on your

buddy list.

As previously mentioned in the yahoo pages booters can use

conference invites to see if your online although you mightn't be

on thier freind's list and you are showing invisible.

Also hacker's can use conference invites to obtain your ip

address and probe for a open port to upload a virus, tojan or

obtain entry to your computer. It is important to block these.

Private Messages

Private messages a touchy area for most people who use yahoo.

Private Messages is the most sent boot received by people.

Most people like to be able to answer private messages if you

follow the settings here and the ones for Yahoo Messenger you

will still be able to answer not only your buddy's private

messages but any others that you chose to answer as well.

Only accept from people on my buddy list these will open as a

private message box as normal.

Don't accept offline messages from people not on your buddy

list otherwise a booter can send you bootcodes while you are

offline and when the offline messages open it will cause a yahoo

error and crash the program.

Save the private messages to review at a later time will enable

you to view other messages sent to you in the ytunnel message

viewer that appears on the right corner of your task bar as a

green icon you can reply to these as you wish by clicking reply.

Also handy for ignoring the boot names used to send private

messages.

Invitations

My preference is to ignore all invitations if a buddy wishes to

invite me to say view a webcam they must first send me a private

message advising me they are going to do so.

Always block invites from people not on your buddy list who

you have not contacted.

Always block add buddy requests.

Invites are a popular boot add buddy requests being the most

used form of invite boot you can get hundred's of these from one

name open on your computer without this being blocked.

Don't show the notifications in the chatroom if your being booted

by hundred's of private message or invite boots this can cause

lag, a buffer overflow, crash Yahoo messenger and Ytunnel.

Don't send a reply imagine your computer trying to reply to over

a hundred private messages or invites at the same time.

Replying to that many can cause very serious problems to both

your software and your computer.
