Setting up Ytunnel

Chatroom Controls

Unless you don't mind being moved from one chat

room to another don't automatically try rejoining a

chatroom when it is full. If you tick this then go to

another room when you can join the previous room you

tried to join you will automatically logged into it and

taken from the room you are currently in.

Blocking messages with links to web sites or ip addresses

helps in spam control. Also some boot programs can

generate a ip address into the chatroom that when clicked

by the unsuspecting user will either boot you from the room

or enable the booter or hacker to obtain your ip number.

Don't auto ignore users who exceed the flood tolerance or

those who use a lot of emotes and smiley's will be always in

your iggy bin.

Put the boot detection level onto high to help prevent being

booted by room boots. (not often used now but still around)

Duplicate messages cause lag and can be a nuisance in a fast

scrolling room.

Spam Filtering

This gets rid of those annoying spam bots we all detest.

As you can see from my settings here I aggressively block

spam bots they annoy me flood the screen with useless and

sometimes even offensive messages I do not want to see.

If someone has put a message into the room and it has been

blocked as spam I can see what the message contained by

viewing the activity logger.

Automatically place spam bots in the iggy bin recommended.

Booters also disguise themselves as spam bots and enter

chat rooms with more than one bot name with number

extensions.

Scanning profiles for spam associated content helps to be

able to identify the actual spam bots to those using a name

similar to a spam bot. Bot users are also getting smart and

using names that are not normally related to spam bots but

the profile will still contain links to sex and porn sites.

Profile Scanning Settings

Allow Ytunnel to decide if a profile should be scanned

means only those suspect bot names will be scanned and

ignored if nesses keywords commonly associated with

spam bots include: porn, view my webcam, exc.

Scanning webpages found on the users profiles can use your

bandwidth and cause unnecessary network activity.

A lot of people have adult profiles although they are not bots

don't tick this.

Users with profiles that don't exist can occur when a booter

uses a boot program that will put a name into the room that

doesn't exist. Tick this box to auto ignore these.

If you wish to check adult profiles for spam bot scanning

put a user name and password into the fields supplied and

tick the box Use login to check adult oriented profiles.

Click OK.

Anti-Boot

Enable bootcode filtering and anti-bomb protection.

If you are unaware of the difference between bootcodes

and bombs I have explained this in a different section of this

site.

Apply the bootcode filter to people on my buddy list.

A lot of times someone on your buddy list maybe booting

you but you don't realize they are doing it. I have myself

been through this experience and now apply bootcode filters

to all buddy's as well as others.

Bootcodes contain International Characters HTML and

Special characters. Keep both these sliders on high.

block invitations and private messages that appear to be

cloned prevents a booter from cloning your buddy and trying

to pm you or send you a invite to boot you using a buddy's name.

Anti-booting for voice chat helps to prevent sound boots and you

losing voice.

Some links placed by spam bots or booters in a chatroom can crash

Yahoo messenger, Ytunnel and cause your computer to freeze.
