Where
We Started...
The month of August 05 in Dubai, UAE ended in a desperate
search for a vacation that would be short but nice. We were tired of the heat
but we did not have much days to spare. At the same time we did not want to
go to a place where we would land up spending huge amounts just on airfare!
The no brainer was India, we considered Kerela and then Goa. 90% of the people
in Dubai who are indians are from Kerela, thus being the case, there were
no flights available as it was the busiest sector. The latter was not possible
because the Monsoons had beat us to Goa !
About the time we were giving up, I stumbled upon this new airline called
Air Nepal International that had stareted operation just 10 days ago, and
they were offerring direct flights to Kathmandu from Dubai.
Being one of the few countries where an Indian passport can get you loads
of benefits, no VISA, discounts on domestic travel, a common language and
some of the most stunning photos i have ever seen in my life of people, architecture,
mountains.
We needed no more convincing...we rushed to book flights for 2 days later.

On the whole the experience was enriching in every sense of the word, i think
it is one of the best vacations we have had so far. It was also the cheapest
but most expensive vacation we ended up having! Cheapest becasue everything
was cheap and when i say that it is an understatement, and expensive because
we ended up spending the most! Lovely people, beautiful country and a true
world heritage country, Nothing i write can truely describe how nice a holiday
it was.
Air Nepal International Flight
SZ 612
We took off from the Dubai International Airport at
1:00 AM and reached a few hours later.
Excellent service and we got a free Business Class upgrade !!! One of the
best recommended airline food.

Tension in Nepal
It is rather sad that a country so peaceful &
beautiful by default is going through a time of tough political and violent
tension. There is a very active rift between the Maoist [ fighters for democracy
group ] and the current Royal Rule. The upsetting part is that the local people
living day to day are getting stuck in the crossfire between the two. There
are travel advisories against visiting nepal all over the place.
Personally we felt no danger when we travelled as they do not hurt the tourists.
I would encourage people to visit this place as the main bread winner for
this country is tourism and that has taken a thorough beating because of the
political tensions. The main source of revenue for this country has thus been
very severly affected.
