Unbelievable
Devi's Falls (Patale Chhango)
Back from Sarangkot at 7:00 Am, the Lodge treated
us to a complimentary breakfast.
Excellent view from the restaurant looking onto the Fishtail reflected on the
Phewa lake, we gobbled down fried eggs and toast. A must-take back from Nepal
is their tea. Lovely liquor tea, similar to the Darjeeling variety if you
are a tea buff.

Gurung Takes us to the Devi's Falls after a short nap,
actually i collapsed and lay dead for an hour while Pashu laughed his head
off reading a book he bought the day before! Pokhara is the only city in Nepal
which is famous for waterfalls. As we drive by the river sides below the
hills we can see several beautiful and dashing waterfalls flowing downhill
and finally flowing to the rivers.
As he drove towards the Tibetan camp area, one could be fooled that there
was a waterfall tucked away behind rows of souvenir shops! It was quite a
sight as you walk behind these shacks into the waterfall area gate.
At first the noise is deafening, and i mean it. The river is full and the
dam has been opened, this is September and the monsoon is still on, hence
the waterfall which is seasonal is actually in its full glory. As you approach
the main area, all you can see is this weird mist and no water but loads of
noise. As we walked on we could see the full fall. But it is not the height
that is captivating, it is the depth...
This waterfall goes underground and disappears quite mysteriously and then
joins the main Seti Gandaki river. The fall touches down below and has a depth
of 4500 feet, can you beat that??!! no wonder so much noise and so much mist!
We kept peeking to see the end of it but you cant, apparently it can be seen
during dry seasons from the near by underground caves, but for now the caves
were closed for the rains, no wonder, who wants to drown. The volume is shocking
for such a small fall.
Devi's
Fall
Devi's Fall (also known as Devin's and David's) is a
lovely waterfall lying about 2-Km south-west of the Pokhara airport on the
Siddhartha Highway. Legend has it that a trekker (Devin, David) was washed
away by the Pardi Khola and mysteriously disappeared down into an underground
passage beneath the fall.
Seti Gandaki River
Another of Pokhara's natural wonders is the Seti Gandaki
river. Flowing right through the city, the lively river runs completely underground
at places. At certain points, amazingly, the river appears hardly two meters
wide. But its depth is quite beyond imagination - over 135 feet !
