| Julia Fordham has gained considerable success in the English speaking world long before Celine Dion had hers. Yet it was only recently that I got to discover her for myself. As was often the case, I heard "Love Moves (In Mysterious Ways)" somewhere a long time ago and had no idea who sung it. It was when I saw the CD containing Five Star's "Rain or Shine" that I saw another CD in the same store containing the Love Moves track. I hit jackpot that day. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the singer of Love Moves is a "she". With my unrefined ears, Fordham's singing voice can sometimes sound genderless (all right, so I thought she sounded like a guy. Blame it on my crude ears).
Julia Fordham's songs are more jazz than pop to me. As I have yet to develop my taste for jazz music (I do like a select few jazz titles though), my favorite Fordham songs can only be counted with the fingers of one hand. However, I do hope to change that, and be able to count Fordham favorites with both hands and including the toes of my feet ^_^ |
