Despite
surfing well in the comp John Diamond was unable to progress through his
3rd round heat and finished 3rd behind Ben Crushanks and Simon Thorton.
However, John still managed to keep his giant killing status as he beat
Ryan Hardy in the heat who came fourth, what a legend.
With
that result John was able to finsih in the top 32 on the Aussie tour and
has picked up Arnette sunnies as a sponsor.
He
also stayed in Aussie for a nextra week tocomplete a bodyboarding coaching
courseto become the only bodyboardingh coach in NZ.
And
if that isn't enough he is also working on putting together a bodyboarding
video as well.

This
month proved to be a bad one for waves. There was plenty of swell, but
no decent banks on the beaches.
Blackhead
has once again fed us with prefect peaks. One weekend in particular saw
some very sick peaks being blown apart by the local talent.
Some
of the Peninsula beaches have had some good waves and the possibility of
a new lefthand reef that we stumbled upon looking like it had potential.
Tomahawk
has had a sick lefthand bank at low tide and a fun righthand bank at high
tide, while even St Clair had some fun shorey days.
A
small crew ventured down to the Catlins and scored some sick wedging peaks
on a number of days, definitly worth the drive.
Raglan
Surf Report
There
hasn't been much swell on the points lately but the beaches have been good
with small swells and offhore winds. Bryant home beach has been the pick
of the bunch with a sick left hand bank in the middle of the beach according
to Paul Meyer.
The
East coast has also been experiencing similar coinditions and on Monday
I scored the beach at Whangamata with a nice left hand bank at 3ft.
