Happy Halloween! As well as carving real pumpkins this year, we tried our hand at some of the new "carvable" fake pumpkins. They are harder to cut out, but at least we'll have them for years to come. Click below to go to my Star Wars page to see my Darth Vader pumpkin:

A new addition to the family! While on vacation in Grand Forks, North Dakota, we fell in love with a little 8 week old black kitten and had to bring her back home with us. Heather has named her "Dakotah" and she is so sweet! Take a look by clicking on her picture below:

April 9th:
Happy Easter! As in previous years, Heather and I have blown out and decorated Easter eggs. For the fifth year in a row, I have also painted a few Star Wars eggs for fun. Here's Yoda:

March 22nd:
Just realised that I never posted one of my favorite cross-stitch projects: my Wile E. Coyote sweatshirt! Although I made this guy years ago, even after numerous wearings, washings and travel, it has held together and kept its colors well. I made this project with 6 strands of floss over "waste fabric" - a grid of threads basted onto a shirt and used to count the stitches with. When the pattern is done, moisten the entire thing with water. This relases the glue holding the threads together and they pull out easily with tweezers, leaving the finished pattern on a favorite piece of clothing. Lots of fun to do!

November 15th:
Heather
and I attended a Home Show featuring HGTV's "The designerguys"...what
a great time we had! Not only did we learn a lot, they had us in stitches
with laughter. We were extremely lucky after the show; we got to meet Steven
Sabados (the one sitting in the image below) and Chris Hyndman. Chris called
Heather "cutie" and gave her a hug. My hug came from Steven, and they both
signed our copy of their book "Finding Your Personal Style".
November 4th:
The
site has been updated with a brand new section called "Recipes"!
Take a look at over 30 family favorites. I hope to add more; especially
new contributions from other family members.
October 31st:

Too old to trick or treat anymore, Heather had her first Halloween party this year. Take a look here
for pictures!
July 1st:
Heather
graduated with honors again this year. Last year, she was one of three
Grade 5's to win a bronze medal for Citizenship (the only medals they are
eligible to win). This year, she was the only Grade 6 student to
win the silver medal (only Grade 6, 7 and 8's are eligible)! We are
so proud of her.

June 20th / 21st:
I took
Heather and her friend Jordan to the midnight Harry Potter book release
party at our local Chapters Store. They had a great time dressing up, getting
sorted in to houses, petting snakes, lizards, rats and spiders, watching
a magic show, doing crafts and more. There were literally hundreds of people
there waiting to get the first copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the
Phoenix!

June 17th:
My
sister Susan ran the Manitoba Marathon again this year (her third time!)
and was featured in a wonderful write-up in the Free Press.

May 28 - 30th, 2003:
Heather
enjoyed three days at camp with all the grade six kids from her school.
They went to Red Rock Camp, and here are a few pictures she took while
there. They enjoyed rock climbing, swimming, archery, crafts, skits, mountain
biking and more.
