4. Drops/Adds

Drop/Adding begins at midnight on Monday for a given week.  Each team receives 2 per week.  Drop/Adds must be in by MIDNIGHT on SATURDAY/SUNDAY (that is technically 12:00 am on SUNDAY) to be effective for that week's games.  For weeks beginning with Thursday games, drop/adds must be in by MIDNIGHT on THURSDAY (12:00 am, Thursday).  For weeks beginning with Saturday games, drop/adds must be in by MIDNIGHT on SATURDAY (12:00 am, Saturday).  Drop/addss are handled by a waivers process.  The waivers process runs on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Dropped players remain on waivers for at least 1 day(s). There are unlimited drop/adds per week.  The Lineup deadline is due one hour before week's first game.

No drop/adding is permitted during game times, so no drops can be requested from 12:01 am Sunday through MIDNIGHT on Tuesday.  Moreover, this means that dropping when there are Thursday games cannot be requested.  Any drops requested after the deadline and before Tuesday will be rejected as null and void.  Drop/adds will renew for the following week on TUESDAY at MIDNIGHT (12:00 am, Tuesday).  Drop/adds after the Tuesday renewal are first come first serve.  NOTE:  Players dropped by a team cannot be added by ANY other team for 24 hours after the Date/Time listed on the transaction report.  Any requests to add such player before that time are null and void.

a. Free Agency vs. Waivers:   Players on "waivers" are players who have been dropped from a team's roster.  Players dropped will remain on "waivers" for 1 day (24 hours).  Players not claimed on waivers within that time become free agents.  Free Agents are those players (1) who clear waivers or (2) who were not on a team previously.

b.  Free Agents: Throughout the season you may want to improve your roster by adding available free agents and dropping players who aren't performing up to your expectations. You can submit a free agent request at any time.
The deadline for picking up a free agent and having that player eligible for the current week's games is 1 hour before the start time of the first game of the week (typically this means 12:00 Noon ET Sunday, but in some weeks the first game is on Thursday or Saturday). With the exception of requests for players on Waivers (discussed below) free agent moves are first-come, first-served and are executed immediately.  Acquiring a Free Agent does not affect waiver order.  There is no limit to the number of Add/Drops you can make with the exception of team dropping. Team dropping is when an owner drops his entire team or a significant number of players which has a negative impact on the league and as such, any owner who elects to drop his team shall be subject to immediate removal from the league. Players selected from waivers or added from free agency that were part of a team drop may be reversed at SportsLine's discretion. CBS does this on its own.

c.  The Waiver Process - Overview:  In order to provide an equal opportunity for all owners to add players to their roster that are new to the free agent pool, a Waiver process will be implemented.  Owners' requests to add players on waivers to their roster are not executed immediately, but are put in a pending status for 24 hours. This allows multiple teams to request the same players.  Most nights between midnight and 6AM ET a Waiver Process will be run, executing the pending requests in Waiver Rank order (so, for example, waivers begin to run on Tuesdays, it will run late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning).  When a transaction is made by a team during the Waiver Process, that team's rank is set to last and everyone else's rank moves up one (see ranking below).  The Waiver Rank does NOT reset.  All transactions during the waiver process are effective for the next scoring period.

d.  Conditions for Waivers:  Players are placed on waivers under the following circumstances:  -Adding a Free Agent while NFL games are in progress  -Midnight Tuesday/Wednesday to 6:00:00 AM ET Wednesday morning.
Waivers will never run on days NFL games are played. You can claim free agent players while games are in progress (effective for the following week), but the first waivers run of the week will always be Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, so Wednesday is the earliest day you'd be awarded a waiver player in any week.
A player is released for a player ON waivers during a waiver process: A player released during a waiver process is on waivers until the next waiver process.  A player is released to waivers while adding a free agent: Requests for players not on waivers are executed immediately. However, the player dropped in a non-waivers transaction is placed on waivers for at least 24 hours. If a waiver process runs prior to 24 hours the player will remain on waivers until the following waivers process.

e.  Waiver Rank:  During a waiver process, pending transactions are processed in an order determined by each team's waiver rank.  The team with the highest waiver rank will get its first requested player. If that team's first choice for a pending transaction can't be executed because another team with a better rank has the requested player, the transaction gets deleted and that team's next transaction, if one exists, is then executed.  When a team gets a requested player, the team's waiver rank is dropped to the end of the line and every other team moves up one and the process is continued.  If a team doesn't have any pending transactions because all players requested were taken by other teams, or the owner simply didn't request any players, the team's turn is skipped but the waiver rank is not dropped. If a team has the highest waiver rank after Monday night and doesn't request any players for Tuesday night's waiver process, that team will still have the highest rank for the next process. The waiver rank for all teams at the end of one waiver process will be the starting rank for the next process.  The ranking does not reset from week to week.

f.  Intial Waiver Rank:  The default waiver rank order will be the reverse of the draft order.  Note: Free agents are available on a first-come, first-served basis; they can be picked up at any time. If a player is dropped from a roster and he clears the waiver process without being picked up, he then becomes a free agent, and can be picked up at any time, without having to go through a waivers process.

g.  Undroppable Players:  To maintain the integrity of the league, you will be prevented from dropping certain star NFL players throughout the season. SportsLine will decide - in its sole discretion - which NFL players are undroppable. If there are players we've deemed undroppable on your roster, they will not be displayed on the Add/Drop page for your team.

5. Trading

  a. Ability To Trade
Any franchise may trade players with any other franchise(s) that the team sees fit, up until a deadline to be set by the Commissioner near the end of the season, subject to the approval of the Commissioner.

  b. Effective Date Of Trade
A trade is effective upon the approval of the Commissioner. Any trade which appears fraudulent by the Commissioner may, at the Commissioners discretion, be voided and the status quo ordered to remain. Prior to any negation of a trade, however, each franchise will be asked for their state of mind regarding the trade.
