Germany

This was a frormer stronghold of Adolf Hitler. The teahouse was built for his 50th birthday present, but he only visited it a couple times.

Hope you don't get light-headed on this page. There are high mountains and sheer cliffs!

Hitler's Tea House

Here stands the amazing Tea House of Hitler built upon Obersalzberg. This mountain as it name suggests overlooks the valley upon which Salzburg in Austria is built. The mountain is surrounded by massive, jagged rock faced mountains. It was a long and dangerous bus ride up to the elevator that took us the remainder of the way up this awesome mountain. The elevator that comes up into the teahouse is deep within a bunker and goes right up through the moutain. It was quite fun.

This massive rock formation lies a few hundred feet south of the Teahouse and on the very mountain. There are many challenging trails in the area which go all over the area for miles. We took the trails in and around the formation seen here. If you clock on the picture, you can see in the lower right corner a trail. That trail is where I started a small landslide. Oops. Anyways, on top of this rock is the highest point on the Obersalzberg and I stood upon it. It was exciting because I had an awesome 360 degree view of the German Alps.

Berchtesgaden area

Here you see a beautiful lake near Berchtesgaden nestled in the middle of the German Alps, right on the Austrian border. This picture was taken from a sheer cliff that I stood on. My mom was scared I would fall down the 300 metre drop, but I looked over the vertical edge anyways. Below I could see moutain cottages scattered throughout the hills and moutains. Bells from cattle could be heard from far below. The sun shone and blessed this remote valley. I'm sure Hitler enjoyed this place because I would take it in an instant for my 50th birthday.
