There really isn't a best time to visit Washington, DC, although the most popular vacation times traditionally are spring and summer. The city enjoys four distinct seasons. Summer is hot and humid ,and winter can be cold, although temperatures rarely drop much below freezing; the flowering spring and crisp autumn days are the most comfortable. There are good reasons for visiting the nation's capital any time of the year; however, room rates are lower from August until mid-September, when Congress is in recess and business travel drops. When planning your visit, note that during cherry blossom time in the spring, hotels are packed, bargains disappear, and reservations are required months in advance.

WHITE HOUSE
Over the course more than 200 years white house-perhaps even more than the United States Capitol-has come to symbolize the vigor of American democracy.Although the oldest public building in the District of Columbia has been periodically rebuilt, enlarged, remodeled and redecorated to suit the needs of its residents and the changing face of the nation and the world, the core structure has remained steadfast. George Washington is the only presidents who never lived in or operated from the White House, but it is likely the only structure in the city he would recognize today.
