Detroit

Founded seven decades before the American Revolution,Detroit is a busy industrial city that produces roughly one-quarter of the nation's autos, trucks and tractors.The riverfront harbor is one of the busiest ports on the Great Lakes. Downtown,a constant flow of traffic moves in and out of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel,which connects Detroit with Windsor,Ontario,directly across the Detroit River.

Renaissance Center Detroit's most prominent landmark,the big,brassy renaissance center,known as the ren cen, dominates the city's skyline with six office towers and the spectacular 73-story Westin Hotel, one of the tallest hotels in the world.


Old Mariners' Church It was made famous in Gordon Lightfoot's song "the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" The 75-acre Civic Center,next to Old Mariners' Church, is a riverfront mecca for entertainment, Festivals, and sports.


Cadillac Square site of many presidential speeches and the 1872 Civil War Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, was designed by Randolph Rogers, who created the bronze doors of the Capitol in Washington,D.C. The blinking red light atop the 47-story Penoscot Building, the state's tallest office tower, has been part of the Detroit skyline since 1928.
