EMPIRE STATE BUILDING
The old queen of New York,who turned 60 in 1991,attracts more than 2 million people a year.You can feel the breeze from the 86th floor or ascend to the glass-enclosed 102nd floor. See also Special Places
WORLD TRADE CENTER
The elevator to the observation deck of 2 World Trade Center whisk you more than quarter of a mile above the street. There is an enclosed deck on the 107th floor and a promenade on the roof above the 110th floor. Although it was the target of a terrorist bomb (set off in the subterranean garage),the center fortunately suffered no structural damage.
ELLIS ISLAND
Visible from the Statue of Liberty or Bettery Park ,Ellis Island served as a Processing center for more than 17 million immigrants from 1892 to 1954.Their dramatic experience is Painstakingly portrayed at the Ellis Island Immigration Muaeum, featuring dozens of exhibits of native costumes, instruments, and household implements,as well as a series of photographs that eloquently document the tension, terror, and joy of the immigrants' TheLiberty Ferry departs from Bettery Park for the trip to the island several time daily,year-round.
BATTERY PAERK
This is the spot for picnics on hot summer days.There's a statue of Giovanni da Verrazano, who piloted the Dauphine, the ship that reached Manhattan in 1524. There's also a monument to World War 2nd dead.
TIMES SQUARE
Every New Year's Eve, Times Square is where thousands of New Yorkers and visitors greet the new year.Although the hight of mad celebration reaches its pinnacle at that time,Times square is always crowded.
SOHO
SOHO,an acronym for "south of Houston Street,"is 3 blks.s. of Washington Square Park.Avant-grade galleries, shops and eateries line the streets between West Broadway,Houston,Lafayette and canal streets. SoHo's trademark castiron buildings appealed to poor artist, who transformed the area into one of the city's hot spots.
STATUE OF LIBERTY
Given by France as a simbol of friendship with the United States,this great lady has been guarding the entrance of New York Harbor since its dedication in 1886.
LINCOLN CENTER
The pulsing water and light of the Lincoln Center Fountain, the centerpiece of this 14-acre complex, are dramatically framed by the Metropoliton Opera House,a contemporary hall with giant murals by Marc Chagall.
MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
Possibly the most complete repository of modern art in the world,its permanent collection-concerned with 20th-century art-includes abstractionist, expressionists, conceptualists, and others.Among other great work, this is the home of Wyeth's Christina's World,Monet's Waterlilies (housed in its own gallery),and van Gogh's Starry Night.

NIAGARA FALLS

Niagara Falls, the most accessible and famous waterfall in the world, is actually three cataracts: the American Falls and Bridal Veil falls in New York and the Horsesshoe Falls in Ontario, Canada. More than 750,000 gallons of water flow each second in the summer. For a good orientation to the falls, stop at the Niagara Visitor Center in the Niagara Reservation State Park (Prospect Park, Niagara Falls 14303), the oldest state park in the nation. Goat Island provides the closest view of the American Falls; cross to the Canadian side for the best view of Horseshoe Falls. The famous Maid of the Mist boat ride lets you view the falls from the water.
