Senior Thesis paper on shape note singing in Watauga County, North Carolina entitled "Singing Friends are the Best of Friends".

This thesis paper was created during my Spring 2002 semester at Appalachian.  I completed it for Dr. J. Goff's HIS 4100 Religion in the South course.

By fostering relationships with my fellow students, professor, and agencies and individuals in the larger community, this particular artifact meets a standard laid out in INTASC(#10).  I conducted interviews with native Watauga County residents consulted with my peers and professor, attended many church meetings and services, and presented my paper to the class and professor.  Most of my research was in Belk Library's Appalachian Collection.  I feel that this paper also serves as an excellent representation of my content knowledge and skills.  I became especially interested in this topic in Mrs. M. Greene's AS 2016 Appalachian Music course.
