ISTE National Educational Technology Standards

INTASC Principles

References

These were weekly reflections and a formal paper on democracy and education.

These are selected  reflections that I choose from my correspondence with Dr. M. Hale, professor for  CI 3100 Teaching High School Social Science course.  They  were generated by myself during the Spring semester (January-May 2002) while  I was enrolled in course.   These assignments enhanced my perspectives on myself as learner and teacher.

These assignments allowed me to share thoughts that I was wrestling with in relation to my teaching philosophy, career, experiences, peers, and course work  with an experienced educator who was able provide feedback.  By writing the reflections I was given an outlet for my confusion, frustration and questions.  The paper provided a space for me to explore a topic that I was interested in and share my finding with my classmates.

This continuous evaluation of myself and my surroundings resulted in a document that meets an INTASC Principle (#9).  This document is testament that I evaluate the effects of my choices and actions and actively seek opportunities to grow professionally.

My e-mail reflections also meet an ISTE technology requirement (VA, VB).  These show that I am able to reflect, as a professional, to make informed decision regarding the use of technology in support of student learning. By communicating through e-mail with my professor and joining on-line journals and newsletters, such as the Coalition for Essential Schools, I have used technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and linear learning.
