A WebQuest
on the American music legend Pete Seeger for 11th grade United
States History.
This WebQuest was created for Dr. G. Moorman's 4630 Context Area Reading, with the intention of eventually incorporating its use into a United States History classroom. I compiled it during the Spring 2002 semester of my undergraduate work at Appalachian State University. This WebQuest
is intended to be used as an activity to introduce students to the major
historical events of the United States from the 1930's through the 1970's.
This WebQuest will also give insight into how individuals can impact and
be impacted by historical events. Also, by creating a compilation CD
or tape students will be able to connect ideas from the past to their own
lives. This comprehensive WebQuest meets many of the principals set forth by the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC #1, #3, #7). This WebQuest stands as proof that I understand central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of Social Studies and can create meaningful learning experiences for students. The WebQuest also is an example that I am able to adapt instructional activities to diverse learners because they must create an outline, search the internet, write a paper and generate a musical compilation. My knowledge of effective communication, including media, is demonstrated by this WebQuest to support inquiry, collaboration and supportive interaction. My technological knowledge and skill are represented well
by this WebQuest and are in alignment with many technology competencies set
forth by the International Society for Technology in Education (IIA,
IID,
IIE,
IIIA,
IIIBVC).
This WebQuest demonstrates that I am capable of making technology enhanced
instructional strategies for diverse learners and can plan for the management
of technology resources. Also, I am able to incorporate technology
while meeting the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. I can also
use technology to support learner centered strategies that address the diverse
needs of students. Because students will be doing the majority of the
WebQuest in a technology environment, such as the computer lab, this demonstrates
ability to manage student learning in a technological environment and increase
productivity of students. |
