This page is dedicated to my favourite car the Volkswagen Beetle, and in particular it is here that I am paying homage to my VW Beetle.
My car was born on January 14th 1974, yep you guessed it, it isn't tax exempt :-) I have no idea what colour it came in as VW don't appear to have recorded that information, however, I do know that it has a factory fitted steel sliding Golde sun roof!!
The story behind buying this car is somewhat weird and I don't always admit it but here goes......
I was reading the newspaper on a Saturday and for a laugh I checked out the horoscopes.....It said something like this
"On Wednesday you will find something you have been looking for"
So on Wednesday I went out and bough copies of Exchange and Mart and Auto Trader to see what I could find. There were a number of bugs advertised for sale so I decided to spend a couple of days checking them out. Having just graduated and not started work yet I had a bit of time on my hands....
I visited places all round Birmingham and came upon my current car. It was up for sale by a guy in the trade of breaking VWs. It had 10months MOT and was up for grabs for 450ukp. I checked it out, went away and bought it the following Saturday! It just felt right and the sun roof sold it to me. I have since found out that it needs a hell of a lot of work and that is what I have started doing.
The last time I drove my bug was May Bank Holiday (22nd - 25th) on Run To The Sun to Newquay. I drove 750 miles in it that weekend and I haven't driven it since. However, it is a little smaller now.....no wings, doors, bonnet, decklid!!!!!
I am starting to assemble a mild 1584cc motor for it with Engle 110 cam, lightened fly wheel, counterweighted crank etc etc. Lets hope it is on the road soon.
I will write more later but that is a brief bit of info for now.

This is what my car will be doing, probably sometime in the next 5 years!!!!
