Loads of progress made today. I trial fitted the front 1/4 panel but it didn't quite fit. After getting the front in place I managed, with a judicious amount of brute force, to get the bit by the windscreen in place. I then noticed the front wasn't quite high enough as the reinforcement panel didn't meet up with the 1/4 panel. After some attempts with brute force I thought about it a bit and applied the brute force with the aid of a trolley jack ;-)

Gradually jacking up the 1/4 panel till it mated with the reinforcement panel but then it sprang out from under the windscreen scuttle! Ar$e! So a little more thought later I clamped the windscreen end in place and *then* jacked up the front to fit! Result it all held in place.

I then managed to tack weld it in place on the reinforcement panel and under the windscreen scuttle. Just need to do the long running down the A post and finish off the reinforcement panel. Don't know whether to plug weld the A post or try and seam weld it. Any advice?

I then let the jack down and it didn't spring out of place!!!!!!!! Result. I checked about 3 hours later and it hadn't fallen out! Double result!!!!!! I'll check it again when I get home tonight! I even think I got good penetration (on the weld!)!

Feeling quite chuffed today as the car looks like it is being put back together now!

Heater channel next!
