the most ancient Tamil grammar extend. It is not only one of the finest
monu ments of human intelligence and intellect preserved in the Indian
tradition; it is also the first literary expression of the indigenous,
pre-Aryan Indian civilization it represents the essence and the summary
of classical Tamil culture.

a note of true tragedy. The traditional author of the poem was Ilanogo
Adigal.
