Born
in Lvov, Poland (now Ukraine).
Cieslewicz produced creative works
all through his life, starting
in Poland (Opole) 1946. |
In this early days
of his career was well known as
a chief layout artist for Polish
magazine titled 'Ty
i Ja' during 1959-63 in Warsaw,
Poland, and later working during
1966-67 for 'Vogue' and 1967-69
as an art director for 'Elle'
in Paris. He settled in Paris
permanently in 1963 and continued
his work as an artist, cartoonist,
illustrator and graphic designer. |

Through his life
he produced many posters for film, theatre,
opera, advertising and many book jackets.
His works as well as the techniques he used
were varied, in aim to achieve realistic visual
expression with minimum of mechanical means
available. This lack of means contributed
to the use of repetive reproduction within
photography, photomontage, screen printing
and various collages. |
