prints have been a private

Posters
are the oldest form of advertising
with a long history and many changes
in design style's and media used
through our times. |
In ancient civilizations poster
was a simple page of written
text in ink, later printed by
woodblock or metal engravings
with little color or design.
|
The main idea of
using posters is for public announcement
and to generate interest or pass
on information on a event, new
product, or for action in politics
like propaganda. |
|
|
|
Colour posters were hand
made by artisans and can be traced back to
the 15 century. Together with the developments
of mechanical printing by 1798, the Lithography
processes were
invented with pioneers in this field Jules
Chéret (1836-1932)
and his "three stone lithographic process,"
technique, which become a perfect technique
for poster printing and a main tool for advertising
and mass communication used extensively during
the Industrial Revolution.

Main characteristics of a poster are large
format print, so it can be visible from
a distance; the use of strong, bold colours
and clean lines which would attract attention.
In short a poster is a strong image and
a short but descriptive phrase.
|
|
Through all art Movements many
different techniques and methods were used
as expressive means and by exploring new as
well as reusing old we can connect now many
styles, techniques and mediums and take the
design process a little bit further in theories
and in principles of page layout, style, image,
type, colour, texture for the final visual
presentation of our ideas. |
