A technology facilitator must apply all the previous standards to possess both the leadership and vision of Standard VIII.  As a leader, knowledge of technology operations, planning, design, teaching, curriculum, professional practice, policies, budgeting, and social, ethical, legal, and human issues are all required to ensure effective technology education.  Leadership requires vision as well to create a technology environment that will be progressive and manage the important process of change.  This standard will prove to be the most challenging to further develop my personal proficiency as a technology facilitator.

My first artifact is a K-12 case study that I completed for Distance Learning for Educators.  The analysis involved selecting and recommending appropriate media to connect schools with the community, business, and parents.   The study is applicable as it discusses the rationale for forming school partnerships.  As a technology facilitator, leadership would include seeking community and parental involvement with technology resources.  This artifact would be a resource and guide to form cooperative group processes within a technology enhanced environment.  My proficiency would be continued in my future pursuits as a facilitator if I were able to obtain support to implement the media suggested in the case study
      An
Examination of an Existing Distance Education Program is a second artifact for this standard.  Current research was discussed as a component of the evaluation.  My competence is demonstrated in the assessment and evaluation of the online course.  I would use this artifact as a future resource to determine the effectiveness of other distance learning courses.  To further develop proficiency with Standard VIII, I hope to be considered a leader in my district as I am the first Algebra I teacher in our online high school.   My teaching experience and technology expertise will hopefully provide the vision to be a pioneer in this educational frontier.
