How she became Sailor Jupiter: Usagi was running to school and she was late, as usual. She bumped into these three bullies. They started to pick on her and were about to beat her up. A girl came up and told the boys to leave Usagi alone. The girl beat them up and left. Usagi noticed that the girl was wearing a rose earring and she thought it was nice. Queen Beryl was talking to her generals and she said that the rainbow crystals were now inside people.
Usagi was at school and was eating lunch when Umino (Melvin) came up to her. Usagi noticed that the girl who had saved her earlier that day was eating lunch by herself. Umino told her that the girl�s name was Makoto and that she had gotten kicked out of school for fighting. He told Usagi that she should stay away from Makoto. Usagi was curious so she went and hid behind the bushes and watched Makoto. Makoto noticed her and invited her to eat lunch with her. Usagi accepted. They went to the arcade after school and Makoto noticed a boy there named Joe. Makoto fell in love and followed him home. It turns out that Joe has a rainbow crystal inside him. Zoisite came and took it out of him. Joe turned into a monster.
Usagi transformed to Sailor Moon and tried to fight Joe who was now a youma. Makoto got mad and picked up the youma and threw him. The sign of Jupiter appeared on her forehead. Luna realized that she was a Sailor Senshi and gave her a transforming pen. Makoto transformed and became Sailor Jupiter and defeated the youma.
Family: In the manga and the Japanese version of the anime, it states that Makoto�s parents were killed in a plane crash when she was young. Makoto has lived by herself most of her life, like Mamoru. She had to learn to survive on her own at a young age; that's why she's so independent. Since her parents died in a plane crash, airplanes are now her biggest fear. In the English version of the anime, they don�t say anything about her family.
Friends: As with Ami, Usagi was the first at her school to approach Makoto when she first arrived. No one else would talk to her or even go near her, because they had heard the gossip about her violent reputation and her tendency to get into fights. All the students thought that she would probably be kicked out of this school by the end of the week, and so most made no attempt to becme friends with her.
Inner Senshi: Makoto is friends with all of the Inner Senshi. She once had a fight with Minako in the second season, but they became friends again in the end. Her closest friend is Usagi, but Makoto has a well established relationship with all of the Inner Senshi.
Outer Senshi: I do not think that Makoto has a problem with any of the Outer Senshi. I think she gets along well with them all, and she once had a brief crush on Haruka ^^;;
Relationships: Makoto used to have a boyfriend. He dumped her though, as you can see in one episode in the second season. Her best friend came through for her and is always taking care of her, but Makoto says that they are just friends. Even though Makoto�s old boyfriend dumped her, almost every boy she sees, she says that he looks just like her old boyfriend - which causes many a sweat drop for her friends. There is really no one in particular whom she likes though, though she seems more romantically inclined toward her best friend, Shinozaki (Ken).
Past Life: In the Silver Millennium, she was the Princess of Jupiter, and was romantically involved with Nephrite, a general of Endymion's. It's always been said that the Inner Senshi and Endymion's four generals (Kunzite, Jadite, Nephrite, and Zoicite) were romantically involved, and there are several manga pictures that were done by Naoko Takeuchi that show the couples together. Nothing official has ever been said however; but these pairings are very popular in the Sailor Moon fanfic community!
Future: Like the rest of the Inner Senshi, Makoto is still Sailor Jupiter in 30th century Crystal Tokyo, and is one of the royal family's protectors. Nothing else is really known about her during this time. There is nothing much said, but Makoto wants to be a good wife, a flourist, or own her own resturaunt. This probably would not occur in the same time period as Crystal Tokyo, but maybe in the years before the formation of the new city.
Overall: Makoto has a little of an aggressive tendency, and has the physical strength to back up her whims. She does not like to see helpless people get picked on or harassed, and will step in to defend them. She is a very nice person if you look past the rumors about all the fights she gets into and get to know her. She compensates for her aggressive reputation by putting a lot of effort into being a good home maker. She is an excellent cook and great at gardening and sewing as well. She is very good with kids. Her dream is to one day marry a nice man and make him happy. She also wants to own a plant store. Makoto is great at ice skating. She and pPrincess Serenity were the champions of ice skating back in the moon kingdom. She is a little obsessed with men she sees looking like an old sempai of hers. She just wants to be loved so much. She is a little shy with people she doesn't know at first. This, plus her height and strength scares a lot of men off. She will give up a lot for a friend (for example when she gave blood to help a friend who was attacked survive). As Jupiter, she is the strongest of the inner senshi and excels in hand to hand combat. She is usually the first to attack. In summary, Makoto is a very caring and emotionally solid girl. A defender of the weak, she is dependable and strong. In addition, she possesses a gift for home economics and horticulture and wants nothing more than the love of a good man.
