+ welcome!

You have reached Sensation, Gretchen Makee Sur Wilwayco's Geography 1 Travelogue! For this project, I had to ride the Metrostar Express (MRT) train line in Manila, Philippines and observe the landscape. This webpage is my output. Here you'll find my pictures, observations and opinions on the MRT, semiotiics, and how this all relates to Philippine society in general.

+ about this layout

You're probably wondering why in the world I chose this layout when it doesn't seem to have much to do with Geography. I'll admit, it DOES look a little like a bit of stationery paper. It's even grammatically incorrect like stationery paper! But I chose it because it's a really upbeat layout. Some of the opinions I express on this site are pretty strong, but I want to remain optimistic about the MRT and what it reflects about Philippine society. Hence, this very girly rainbow layout. I hope it doesn't give anyone eyestrain.

I also like the layout because it reminds me of a line from one of my all-time favorites books, The Museum at Purgatory by Nick Bantock: "For Gazio, journeying meant an eruption of sensation. The Travel Box was to remind her to remain open-minded." Riding the MRT was a burst of new experiences for me too.

This site was tested in Internet Explorer , Opera and Mozilla Firefox. Ma'am Iona, If there are any problems with broken links or anything, please feel free to contact me. :)
