A young woman with spirit and a past filled with peace... is what I would like to say.
Her life is just the opposite: adventures left and right. Being only 15 when the series
starts out, she already has a reputation of being the one who can scare away bandits and even
dragons. In fact in the movie Slayers Gorgeous with Naga, they just mention her name and an
entire fleet of dragons runs away in terror. Lina has sometimes even been credited by being the most powerful sorceress in the world. Possibly because she knows the most dangerous and destructive spell in all magic: the Giga Slave. It could also be because of all the enemies she's defeated which include Shabranigdo and Dark Star, two of the highest dark evil lords just under the Lord of Nightmares. Lina's sister, Luna, is said to have the blood of the knight of Cephied, who is one of the high powers of the race of gods. Lina's skills are well ranged. She's mostly an expert in black magic (aka Dragon Slave...), but most of the time when she just needs to give somebody a kick in the butt she uses Shamanism. As I said before Lina is able to use the Giga Slave, which calls forth not the power of the Lord of Nightmares but the Lord herself. Being only human, it's amazing that an inferior being compared to the Lord can handle the power she is given. Lina also knows another spell of the Lord of Nightmares: The Ragna Blade. This spell focuses all the dark energy into a blade, which is much easier to handle than the Giga Slave, but harder to hit a moving target. Lina's love life is very confusing. Because Lina's one of those people that doesn't want any mushy lovey dovey stuff to ruin her reputation, she rarely shows any affection to anybody. The target of Lina's love seems to be Gourry Gabriev, the gullible swordsman who she meets in the very first episode of the series. After Gourry is kidnapped by Hellmaster Fibrizo, Lina goes into a depression and even has nightmares about Gourry's disappearance. Of course there is a magical moment when the two reunite after believing that both were gone for eternity. Lina's always teased about her size, bust and height. Gourry constantly makes wisecracks about it and always gets the crap beaten out of him. You could say Lina has little self-asteem, but because of her reputation for being a "bad girl," she is never made fun of by strangers. If anybody, and I mean anybody that Lina has never met before makes one wisecrack about her bust, then they had better put their head between their legs and kiss their ass goodbye. |
