RABBITS
PROJECT LEADER: TERRIE SULLIVAN
Our club has offered rabbits as a project for many years. We currently    have 45 members enrolled in the rabbit and cavy project. The things that you    should hope to accomplish in doing the rabbit project are:
Learn about the important breeds and varieties of rabbit, their    characteristics, and be able to identify them.
Demonstrate sound care and management practices including feeding, care, handling,    grooming, and showing.
Keep a complete financial record.
Acquire an understanding of the scope of the industry.
Learn how to do rabbit showmanship.
Our club members show their rabbits and cavies at the California Mid-Winter  Fair, Riverside County Date Festival, Colorado River Country Fair, San Diego County Fair and many other places.
Some of the breeds owned by our members include: French Lops, Lionheads, Mini    Lops, Californinans, Himilayans, Holland Lops, Polish, Mini Rex and Netherland    Dwarfs.  Hopefully, some of the members will be doing breeding projects this    year. Last year, we had the Reserve Grand Champion Doe  & Litter, as well  as a number of Best of Breeds. At our fair there are approximately 325 rabbits  and 100 cavies shown from the youth in our county.
