  Utah and California

I flew to Utah to see Jeff off on his mission.

Mom, Jeff and I went to Temple Square to pick up a few more things for Jeff's mission. We watched "The Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd" (it makes me cry every time!) Then we got Dad at work. There is nothing more beautiful than Temple Square at Christmas time, in the freshly fallen snow!

Jeff's last meal before entering the MTC: breakfast for lunch at IHOP in Provo. Jeff ordered everything.

Elder Eyring and me in the lobby of the MTC, in front of the international Christmas tree. He was excited to go on his mission, like I was excited to go off to college.

When we had to say goodbye, Mom and Dad cried. They love him so much. Chris and I loved Jeff too, but we were glad for him to go off on a big adventure and serve the Lord in Hong Kong!

A few weeks later, my paternal grandmother, Pauline "Polly" Leone Eyring died. She had been ill with diabetes and Alzheimer's for a long time. Grandpa Eyring and her children had taken the best care of her for many years.

I flew out to California for the funeral. Although we were sad to hear she had died, she left behind a troubled body, and she was sealed to our grandpa in the temple for time and all eternity.

Grandma holding one of her children. I never saw this picture until the funeral.

The tributes to grandma and the talks about the gospel were very touching. The thing I remember most is the legacy she left her posterity. Each of her 6 children earned a college degree, every one (about a dozen) of her male grandchildren (that have been old enough to) have served missions, and every married grandchild has been married in the temple.

Grandpa Eyring and I at lunch after the funeral. I love him.

My guy cousins. We were happy to see each other and get reaquainted.

My aunt Lorriane Eyring (left), Aunt Susan, and a family friend.
