Danny and Karen Robertson's Visit Dave's brother and his wife Karen and their daughter Kali came to visit us in October of 2005 (before Hurricane Wilma.) Our big fling was a fishing trip on the Loxahatchee river and the "intercoastal" (the calmer waterway between the barrier island and the mainland. Many of the wealthy own beautiful homes on the waterfront, which we enjoyed while we waited for the sun to go down. |

"Captain Steve" was our fishing guide. He's a boatowner who works with
Dave at FTT. He brought everything we needed: the licenses, rods, bait,
and oh, the big one....how and where to fish! He cast the lines and we
reeled 'em in (or let them get away.) Steve was great, especially with the weather we had. The first night we went was very stormy and choppy, which made poor little Kali throw up. So we packed up and tried again the next night. It was perfect weather. |

Kali is a very happy little kid. She smiled (when she wasn't throwing up) and entertained us. Her parents had just put a feeding tube to her stomach, since she wasn't swallowing very well. That helped them get more sleep and have a better time.

Karen was the only one to catch a ladyfish. The picture proves that posing with a slimy fish only makes you look even cuter!
Karen and I both caught "Look downs", or moon fish. Their about the shape of a salad plate and a flashy silver color. They have 2 little fillets along their backbone--about enough for 2 fish sticks.

Here are the proud brothers with snook they caught at the same time. Snook have a dark pinstripe down their side, and are really good to eat. You must throw back any snook under 24 inches and over 32 inches long. We caught several snook that night, but only one was a keeper.... |

Danny caught the big one, which was 26 and 1/2 inches long. Boy was Danny proud of that fish!
Dave was the only one to catch a jack, which fight very hard. They're whiter, and they have a sharp spine on them, which cut Dave's hand as he tried to jump away.
Captain Steve cleaned and filleted it for us, and we fried it up. It was good eatin'!

We went to the beach one day. Dave and Danny were like little brothers all over again in their blue shorts, digging holes and flinging sand.
Here's the giant sandfish ate Danny. That's one way to guarantee that you'll find sand in all the crevices of your body for a while.
