We flew to Utah in July of 2005 for 3 family reunions and a wedding. Dave's cousin Jeremy married Roseanne in the Timpanogos temple. Jeremy is our age, and we got to know him well when we were all going to BYU. He's so happy and sarcastically funny and smart, and we were very happy for him and his new wife. |

Here the extensive Robertson clan poses in the hot sun for a picture. The snow-covered Utah mountain peaks are in the background. In the foreground are two of Jeremy's sisters, Emily and Becca.

Rosanne studied art at BYU, and she apparently loves color (our kind of girl!) She choose red, orange and yellow for her colors. They had a reception in her big backyard. They served red watermelon, orange cantaloupe, and yellow pineapple. Each table had colorful Gerber daisies floating in water bowls.

Every year, the Dave's Uncle Jim and Aunt Judy Robertson have a 4th of
July reunion at their house in Provo. A yearly tradition is the family
pine wood derby. One of our cousins' kids waits patiently before
it starts. We also have to have a BBQ, homemade ice cream, and a chocolate sampling. |

The entries are all made by the family all day in the garage, and some are really funny. The winning car this year was the "the butter plate" by Uncle Jim.

One day we went to Utah Lake for a picnic, boating, to go tubing, talk, and take turns babysitting all the kiddos.
Sunday night we went to Dave's Uncle Allen and Aunt Rochelle Robertson's house in Lehi, Utah. We ate dinner, looked at photo albums, posed for this family picture on the front door step. This is the pulling faces picture.

My sister Emily poses with her husband (who is Dave's cousin too) and their son Henry after she ran the Freedom 5k. Provo has one of the biggest 4th of July celebration in the country. It hosts the "Stadium of Fire" concert and fireworks, baby contests (which Henry won 2nd place in his division), parades, plane flyovers, runs, and craft fairs. It's America the way a community should be, and I love it. |

Here is one of the most remarkable floats in Provo's 4th of July parade. Some church ward or stake built a replica of the Nauvoo temple. The coolest part: the steeple was retractable, which lowered under traffic lights.
Every year, the men play "pomp". It's a cross between red rover and freeze tag. The object is to get to the opposite side of the pool without getting your foot lifted out of the water. If you do, you have to join whoever is "it". Everyone pulls a few muscles, and everyone laughs and teases. Here Dave and Jon try to nab Uncle Allen.
The Robertson burn up money every with their own "Driveway of Fire". Grandpa Robertson is a pyro. He likes to be in the middle of lighting the family fireworks with all the other boys.
After the Robertson craziness, Dave and I went up to stay with Mom and Dad in Bountiful. We went with Em, Henry, and Mom to see Dad's office in the church office building. We stopped to take this picture next to a Joseph and Emma Smith statue. Emma is getting money to start the Relief Society. Dave is giving me my chapstick.

Grandpa celebrated his 75th birthday that summer. His kids chipped in
and bought him a flagpole--a complete surprise to see when he came home
and it was all installed. Our family, Aunt Pam and Uncle Steve Tucker, and Aunt Gail and her 2 sons ate at the Gardens in the Joseph Smith building. Then we went to a military band concert in the nearby park. |

Here James, Em, Dave and Chris play the train game (Ticket to Ride). It's easy to learn, different every time, and challenging. Obviously, everyone here is deep in thought...
We also went to the Stringham family reunion in Logan. I forgot my camera, but we did sleep among some pretty wildflowers. We toured a famous natural cave high in the mountain, made mini scrapbooks and flower head wreaths, sang songs and recited poems around the campfire, performed puppet show spoofs on scripture stories, and talked and ate a lot. I enjoyed getting to know Dave's teen girl cousins, and Dave enjoyed talking to his Uncles Dwight and Gary and his beloved grandpa Glen Stringham.
