January 2:

Joshua plays with his noisy toy as babysitter Sarah looks on.
January 24:

Back home again after months of travel, frenzied Christmas preparation, and several December deadlines for articles, we'll get the site updated with all our goings on eventually. In the meantime, here's Josh at the outset of his travels.
February 24:

Jim and Josh look pretty happy to be headed home, don't they? Jim looks like he could use some sleep. If you'd like to see what he's recovering from, check out the first installment of the travel page.

February 27:

I know it's late for Valentine's Day (had a 1500-word article due on the 15th), but here's Joshua's valentine to you. In honor of the occasion, he even turned his eyes red.
March 7:

One of the results of Joshua's 9-month checkup? The green light to eat all sorts of table foods. Here, he tries a little spaghetti and veggie meatballs. (As you can see, they taste better than they sound.)
March 14

Where's that strange music coming from? Now that the record player is baby-accessible, Joshua likes to stand in front of it and stare at the speakers when it's on.
March 21:

As you can see, Joshua has mastered climbing the stairs, for a demonstration, click on the photo.
April 7:

Here's Joshua demonstrating his new favorite 6 a.m. activity (it happens to be afternoon in this picture, since we don't usually take the camera to be with us): standing on our bed and looking out the window.
April 11: This weekend we went to the open house at U of I's college of veterinary medicine. Here, Josh meets a baby goat--three weeks old. Better than this, though, was Jim's encounter with the fistulated cow.
April 15:  Jim was so impressed with Joshua for feeding himself with a spoon, he wanted the world to see. Click on the photo for the animated version.
April 28:  We went to the zoo this weekend, in hopes of introducing Joshua to some animals that weren't surgically enhanced. He liked the goats best. Click on the photo and see for yourself.
Summer:  Joshua's acquired quite the duck collection over the past month or so, including six(!) as birthday presents.
September 24: Josh takes a few sips from his water bottle as the family waits for Kentucky's only underground cave tour by boat to begin. Cousin Ferrin took the photo.
November 6
Actually, this photo was taken over the summer, too. Jim introduced Joshua to the joys of pillow forts. I'm keeping this one for his prom date.

November: Here's Josh in his Halloween costume. He's Crazy Cereal Head Man.
December: Joshua's first haircut was not quiet, but the end result was fabulous. Click on the picture to see the play-by-play.
January 1: Here are Joshua and Jim on Christmas morning with the baseball glove that Joshua gave to Jim and the ball that Santa put in Josh's stocking. That Santa, he just has an intuition about these things. Click on the photo for a few more Christmas pictures.
Joshua and Grandmama marvel over Gossie the Gosling's good-natured generosity on his recent visit. One of a minority of photos in which bare bellies do not figure prominently.
Joshua and his friend Nate sit on the hammock in our back yard. Nate's mom Lori took the pictures. If you want to see more of the boys, click on the photo to go to Lori's album at Shutterfly..
