| April 1, 2006: This is the first April Fool's joke we ever played on Josh. When he came upstairs for his nap, all his bath things were in his bed. Then he went into the bathroom, and saw this bed made for him. It took us a while to convince him that he couldn't actually sleep in the tub, so he slept with a towel for a blanket in his bed. |
| April 29,2006: A few weeks ago, Joshua lived out the toddler cliche and wrote all over the wall with a pink piece of chalk. It's really hard to act angry when the drawing says "I love you Mommy, xoxxx," but we made him clean it up anyway. |

| Jim snapped these last Saturday at a regional park where they give tours of a civil war battle. Josh and I had been on Friday but Sebastian kept crying so I promised one of us would bring him back. The civil war soldier was just a bonus. By the way, we may be south of the Mason--Dixon line, but it will never be the war between the states. |
| Fall 2006 This was one of those days when I thought, "that would make a great picture." Except I actually ran downstairs and got the digital camera. Josh and Jim are filling in a math workbook together as the evening light shines through our bedroom window. Look at Jim's expression. Can't you just tell that this is his favorite thing to do in the whole world? Josh likes it too. The other day I came upstairs and he'd written 312 x 4=1,248 on his chalkboard. Just for fun. No reason. Now I used to do that same thing when I was six or so. Here's how one of my equations might have gone: 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1= 2+2+2+2+2+2+1= 4+4+4+1= 8+5= 13 You know? |
