Buzztone We play fast melodic skate/punk based loosely on bands like
Autopilot Off, Lagwagon and Consumed. We're based in Wiltshire, England and
have been together since 1998 with an original line-up of Si, Matt, Wiz and
Woody. Justin replaced Woody in 1999 and Wiz left for pastures new late Spring
2002 and in-stepped former ninety-nine % front man Si as bass player. We have
played with a number of the UK's top punk acts, including King Prawn, 4ft
Fingers, Skirtbox, Gash, Douglas and the B-Movie Heroes as well as Big D &
The Kids Table from USA. We know this makes us sound like stuck-up wankers but
we've got to put something on the website! Website : www.buzztone.org

Reviews: from
punknews.org.uk, on From Beer to Paternity EP(5/5)
In the midst of the carrot crunching, stale sounding
cheese ska legions of the British Midwest its refreshing to hear Swindon band
Buzztone come from a different direction. And although that their sound derives
primarily from the Epi/Fat blueprint of the late nineties is nothing new or
remarkable in a saturated market, the strength of their songs makes them
frighteningly good for a band whose current incarnation has been together
barely a year. Buzztone's aggressive semi-technical skatecore echoes Strung
Out or NUFAN their peak but, lends a hearty British swagger to proceedings a la
Consumed or Snuff. Quite easily the match of UK melodicore brat packers Gash or
Phinius Gage, it's nothing short of criminal that this Wiltshire outfit are
unsigned. And no, it's not just ultra muscular, breakneck pop-punk-on-roids;
these guys can really pen a chorus. Endlessly Walking and I'm Still
Fighting are colossal slabs of air, infectious as a bout of encephalitis but
sacrificing nothing in terms of clout or sheer straight line speed. The other 5
tracks aren't much worse either, granted the "Sweet Child" cover proves little
other than that Buzztone have a gifted guitarist, but for a demo release this
is excellent fayre. Frontman Si possesses quite a howl, reminiscent of an M4
corridor Jason Cruz, the production is well above standard for a demo and the
musicianship as tight as Gordon Brown's wallet pocket. All adding up to
quite a discovery then; Buzztone, on the evidence of this 7 tracker, are great.
Any questions? "
