Torgus Vensland Family
Torgus Vensland (aka Thorgus and Torjus) was born April 11, 1880 in
Vennesla Norway. He was 3 when he made the trip with his parents to America.
He declared his intent for US citizenship on May 02, 1907 while living
in Williams Township, Koochiching County, Minnesota.
He met Oluffa Sofie Halle while she was working in the restaurant owned by her sister and brother in law in Thief River Falls, Pennington County, MN. They married on May 4, 1910 and had 2 girls
and 3 boys. They made their home
Big Woods Township, Oslo, Marshall County, Minnesota.
He was diagnosed with diabetes in 1922. He had to travel to
Minneapolis for treatment. He was one of the first patients to be treated
with insulin. He died February 14, 1927 at the age of 47.
He was my great-grandfather. I have made a page
