YODA'S HUT Location: Dagobah Type: Mud hut Owner: Yoda Inhabitants: Yoda Debut: The Empire Strikes Back Destruction: some time before Heir to the Empire A small, primitive mud hut on the edge of a misty, slimy swamp is the last place one would think of looking for a Jedi Master, but this simple abode was indeed home to the great warrior of the Republic; Yoda. The hut was situated at the edge of a swamp near the infamous cave of evil, meaning that Yoda's Force presence was cancelled out by the dark side permeating the cave, thus making him invisible in the Force. The hut was a simple affair; Yoda possessed no technology, instead relying on the Force for defence and his rootleaf stew for sustenance. He cooked his meals over an open fire on one wall of the hut, and slept in a simple cot beside another wall. This primitive life, while a far cry from the majesty of Coruscant's Jedi Temple, suited Yoda well enough during the New Order. Yoda made use of the hut shortly after the end of the Clone Wars - during the rise of the Empire and the beginning of the Jedi Purge. The Jedi Master retreated to Dagobah, where he settled in the mud hut to hide out from Palpatine's agents. He eventually trained Luke Skywalker to defeat Palpatine, either through rigorous training across the jungles or using the Force on the mud outside Yoda's hut. Yoda spent his last days in the hut, before dying on his cot and passing into the Force. |

Yoda's hut Initial sketches of Yoda's hut had it appear more rounded and mosque-like -- sort of like a church of the swamps, complete with stained glass or gem windows |
